(Level 1 reader) Good story of black family with triplet children. Adventures raking leaves. Nice ending, too. Recommended for ES.

It's a grand book for triplets. Otherwise? The story is lively enough.

If this sounds like faint praise, it's intentional.

Before encountering this book, I didn't think it was possible to write a BORING book about children and leaf piles. You kidding?

The little subplot mystery, involving, Boo the cat was a disappointment, too. Geesh!

YET, RATING THIS BOOK

I'm going to give it FIVE STARS. Since Level 1 readers are mostly just relieved to get through any book.

Although this early reader seems lifeless and dull to me, innocent youngsters may find it charming. Plus, by the time they arrive at the tepid ending, they may feel like conquistadors and conquistadores.

12/16/2018 ~ An appealing addition to the early reader category. I appreciate seeing characters of color in the story and having character names that are often associated with Hispanic characters. The story (complete with a missing kitty) is fun - siblings working and playing together. I'll be adding this series to my elementary library.
