Flip it over! 2 Books in 1 - Learn Rocket Style on one side and Bunny Ears on the other - 2 foil-stamped shoe-tying boards with clear step-by-step photographic instructions - 2 board games reinforce early learning concepts, including left/right - Color-coded laces and holes - Bound at top providing easy access for lefties and righties
I chose to put this book on my favorites shelf because tying shoes is a common issue that teachers and students deal with when starting Kindergarten. The book provides color coordinated strings and holes to lace the strings through, making the job of tying shoes much easier to understand. The book helps explain the steps in two easy and fun ways (Bunny and Rocket Style). This book would be great for students in primary grades. It would be best read to a student one on one. A teacher could purchase enough books for the whole class and guide students through each step.
Genre: Self-Help/Instructional
I am hoping to incorporate this book into my future classroom to teach young students that may be struggling with tying their shoes. I plan on putting this on my classroom book shelf, in a bin labeled "Self Help" and students can take home the book to read with an older sibling or adult. I would like to teach this book to the whole class, on day one of Kindergarten. Then throughout the first week, I will guide students through each step, on the overhead, for 10 minutes each day. On the second week, I would have the students that can tie their shoes on their own, help a struggling classmate, again for ten minutes each day. I would provide help from parents, staff and older students when teaching the first week.

My stubborn daughter who had trouble with spatial relations and learning to tie her shoes used this book in second grade to teach herself. It shows "both" meathods for tying your shoes: bunny ears and "rocket style" ie two loops or one loop. (you flip it over for the other.) and it has laces to practice on built in.
