Digging to China

Rate this book
Digging to China is a collection of poetry, mostly free verse, spanning twelve years of the author’s life. The prevailing theme is nostalgia, but there is plenty here to appeal to all fans of poetry. There are a million poetry books out there by more well-known poets. So why should you buy this one? Perspective. You won’t see a perspective anywhere else like the one Mr. Price shows. This book is short, sweet, brutally honest and raw. Well worth your time and hard earned money.

It's quite amazing how just couple of words can arouse emotions that is so innate and usually hidden to the surface. Some of the poems gracefully touch the topic of death, leaving residues of bitter-sweetness.

This is the first collection of poems I read from Justin Price and, along with the series of emotions he has taken me through, it overall gave me a second wind to get out my pen and compose. These are not your average poems, but rate highly in terms of engaging the reader with some of the finest imagery and personification on the market. This page turning collection will take you on a journey while you peer in a coffin, gaze heavily on the roof top, become stirred for the dying bear and- gonna love this one- relate to the slug.

I travelled emotionally to his kitchen, to the death bed, in the desert, and in the lake. If you are a writer, poet, or just enjoy great poetry this is a fantastic compilation to savor. I highly recommend this as it will stimulate your creative juices and propel you to more imaginative work.

Digging to China is a wonderful collection of "down to earth" poetry. Justin brings us back to his younger days, giving us a glimpse of what goes through the mind of a young boy in a poetic style. I could not help but find a familiarity, reminding me of my own youth as I read each poem.
