The Mayan Apocalypse? Bah! Alice Brimble, 70-yr old bestselling author, had no time for such crazy talk. Joined by her young assistant, she headed to Central America to research her next novel, but soon the two ladies were caught up in government conspiracies and end-of-the-age hijinks. During their misadventures, they were in for surprises, both dangerous and heartwarming, and not everyone was what they seemed. Age is no obstacle. Watch Alice go! NY Times bestselling novelist, Eric Wilson, last brought you the story of Amelia Earhart's disappearance ("Amelia's Last Secret"), and now introduces this fun and fast-paced new series, Watch Alice Go!

Quoting- Alice Goes The Way Of The Maya, By Eric Wilson, N.y. Times best selling Author, "Negligence is a cardinal sin, whether dealing with prescriptions, diet--or the random snake & scorpion." To start with, the book has a great outdoor introduction. I could feel the adventures, ahead, before even done-with, reading into the next of chapters. However, I enjoyed most of it, not all of it. There were bits that made me want to put the book down, via sentences that'd dragged into a slow pace, packed inbetween{Great Wording & Phrases. "For Me" Just Slow thru & thru}.
You might find that differently.
I like the characters -especially Jane. Besides Alice, Jane Gravely is definitely one who has some interesting thoughts, on survival, while visiting a massive foreign land. She keeps you onto the next page/chapters.
The Bookcover; numeric value. The Plot; excellent. Above All I'd have to Grade This Novella (B+\A-) Four stars.
Wow! I became addicted to this book from the very beginning. Alice and Jane are such fun characters, each unique in their own way, yet perhaps more similar than they would like to admit. Alice is an accomplished writer though aging (yet full of spunk) and Jane is her caregiver that accompanies her to Guatemala where Alice intends on uncovering secrets of the past...yet the past wants to remain in the past for from the moment they step off of the plane the dangerous adventure begins. This was a perfect weekend read, it was short yet fast paced with never a dull moment, I highly recommend it....and of course I can't wait for the next one.
This is a short story (only 99 pages)about a feisty senior, Alice Brimbly, who returns to Guatemala or Guate (rhymes with gotta or lotta) with her caretaker, Jane Gravely. Mrs B has Maya roots and wants to write her next novel about her homeland and the injustices of the previous governments.
I liked the characters and the plot line. However, I had expected more depth into their escapades which would have made this into a real novel rather than a short story/novella. This book is the first in a series about Alice. If the other books are also short stories, I will not be reading them.
Alice Goes the Way of the Maya by Eric Wilson introduces the main characters of this new series with a delightful suspense story that keeps you wondering from start to finish whether anyone is quite what they seem. I'll be watching for more of the "Watch Alice Go!" series.
LOVED IT! What a fun read. You just have to love Alice and all her Senior Spunk! =) Another great read by the talented Eric Wilson. This was a great little adventure!
3.5 stars. A quick, easy read. Kept me wondering what was going to happen (and who was good and who was bad), but the ending seemed rushed. Could've done with a few more chapters.
