Even the hottest sex might not be enough to ease the pain of the past…
Molly Simpson arrives at a beautiful provincial park, ready to spend the May Two-Four holiday camping with friends. This weekend is the highlight of her year—or it was, until Tanner Daivies showed up. Her high school crush is all grown up, sexy as sin, and he’s demanding answers—answers Molly isn’t sure she can give him. She had her reasons for leaving him all those years ago, but now, sex with Tanner is scorching, and when they’re together, it’s clear they were never meant to be apart. But the past doesn’t want to stay buried, and Molly isn’t sure reliving it is worth the risk…
Anne Lange grew up with a love for reading. She reads many genres of romance, but prefers to write sexy stories, sometimes with a dash of humor, usually with a side of those sinful pleasures your mom never told you about. Oh, and always a happily ever after. Anne juggles a day job and a family while she looks forward to retirement and finally writing full time. She lives in Ontario, Canada with her wonderfully supportive husband, has three awesome kids and two fur babies.
If you've read the blurb, you have a good idea of what this story is all about, so I'm going to jump right into my review. I'm a sucker for second chance love stories. There's something romantic about "the one that got away". Molly and Tanner's past and present alternate throughout the story to help us get acquainted with them, their love and their heartache. The beginning of the end came around for them shortly before graduating from university, so they were young and made understandable mistakes. The story begins ten years after those events, and they've matured, but Molly, more than anyone, has to work on her communication skills. Tanner is back and he's finally ready to get some answers.
Tanner was pretty much flawless, in my opinion. Not just because he was the one who seemingly got the short end of the stick way back when, but I loved his new found confidence to go after what he'd always wanted. He pushed, but not too hard. He comforted when it was necessary, and after his initial anger faded, he showed compassion and understanding.
Molly ... oh, Molly. I can't imagine what it must have felt like to have gone through what she did. Given her age and the circumstances, I can almost believe why she did what she did. There was a point when I wanted to shake her, hard! That being said, I may not have agreed with her, but I understood her and warmed up to her eventually.
The story was well paced, and the flow was smooth enough to follow without getting pulled out of it. For a novella there were quite a few sex scenes, but all of them were scorching hot! Thunder storm - enough said. The first scene was a little unexpected, but since those two never stopped loving each other, even after ten years, I got it - feelings, opportunity, desire all led to "deed now, talk later". I loved the ending in the form of an epilogue. It was perfect for them, and Tanner became more swoon-worthy in my eyes.
If you love second chances, toe-curling moments, and happy ending that put a perma-smile on your face, this story is for you. It's definitely Worth the Risk. I would definitely read more books by Anne Lange.
Disclaimer: I received a review copy from the author via CBLS Promotions in exchange for an honest review.
Worth the Risk is my first book by Anne Lange and I loved it. For a short story it piled on the personality and hot scenes. I never felt like anything was being rushed along because of the length of the book.
Molly Simpson and Tanner Davies dated throughout college and had a wonderful relationship. They often talked of their futures together. That is until out of the blue Molly told Tanner she couldn’t be with him anymore. Thrown for a loop and dealing with a broken heart Tanner walked out of their apartment and her life.
10 years later Molly is sitting around a campfire with her friends at their annual camping trip when in comes Tanner. She hasn’t seen him since the night he walked out. She’s never gotten over him and seeing him up close after all this time brings these feelings out in vivid detail. She has some serious explaining to do. She owes him that much, at the very least.
The first thing Tanner sees when he walks up to the campsite is Molly. She’s his whole reason for coming this year. He wants to move back to town, but he needs to talk to Molly first. He needs to know what happened all those years before. It has haunted him. He needs to know what he did, what changed, what might have been. Closure would be one outcome, but his heart hasn’t forgotten her. One look at her and his body responds like it hasn’t in years. Can he find a way to forgive the past and make a future with the woman he’s never gotten over?
If you are looking for a sweet, fun, hot read to pass a few hours this is the one for you. It was great to curl up on the couch with a cup of coffee, a blanket and this story.
A special thank you to Anne Lange for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review.
A smoothly-written and well-executed erotic romance novel, “Worth the Risk” immediately captures the reader’s attention and emotions and maintains that grasp throughout until the ending, leaving the reader to relax in satisfaction with a “well done!” to the characters and the author. Some ten years earlier, Molly and Tanner, lovers for some years, were about to graduate from University and move on to their new, “adult,” lives. Tanner fully expected marriage and a lifetime with his beloved Molly—until she informed him “it’s over between us.” He disappears from her life, until a camping reunion of their friends ten years later. Now Tanner wants answers (so does the reader) as to why she suddenly sent him away.
This reader had considered a few possibilities, but the author skillfully avoids telegraphing the reasons, so that the reader will be just as surprised as Tanner. The working-out of the plot for Tanner and Molly, and for their friends, is realistic and possible. I predict romance aficionados are really going to love “Worth the Risk.”
Worth the Risk reunites former college lovers 10 years later in an emotional and steamy journey towards forgiveness after a secret tore apart their HEA that had just begun. Can old hurts be overcome or will uncertainties about the future continue to hold them back? In the capable hands of Anne Lange you get to experience Tanner and Molly's pain as you root for them to be reunited in an immensely sweet and satisfying HEA.
Tanner thought he and Molly would be together forever until she blindsided him by walking away without an explanation. Since then he's never forgotten her and is now given one weekend to get her back. Tanner is one sexy beast solely focused on Molly and uses his sexual prowess to start winning her back from the moment he arrives at the campsite. Tanner is understanding and supportive once Molly opens up about the past and I ached for the newfound hurts she's given him. No matter what pain he's going through though he still supports Molly. He's always put her first and if given the chance again he always will.
While I adored everything about Tanner, I had some issues with Molly. First and foremost is her leaving Tanner all those years ago. With as much love as they had for each other, her doubting him cheapened what they had. She made everything all about her and cheated him out of a future he believed in wholeheartedly. By continuing to keep her secret (a secret that is pretty obvious early on), and by letting fear rule her, she continues to cheat Tanner out of his future. She's taken his free will away. She continues to cheat herself too by living by what-ifs. I know that she too is hurting but love is a healing balm and having his support all these years would've helped her heal faster. Keeping her secret seemed cowardly and letting unfounded fears rule her shows a woman of weak will. It's only when she's with Tanner that she shows an inner strength as she finally lets go of the guilt.
As Molly and Tanner reunite through numerous steamy sexual encounters (and there are A LOT of encounters) we get brief glimpses of a fun and supportive group of friends and I was intrigued by all of them. It was easy to immerse myself in this story as each memeber of the group was easy to relate to. On a whole this story was sexy yet heartwarming, intensely emotional and painful with an epilogue that's uplifting and joyous. Ms. Lange has created a wonderful hero and sets us on an emotional roller coaster ride that ends in an immensely satisfying conclusion. So take a risk and read Worth the Risk.
Anne Lange has crafted a sweet reunion story. I felt more connected to Molly than Tanner, but they had great sexual tension from the very beginning. The time jumping from present to ten years ago was a little jarring at first, I felt like it might have been the author's way of getting to put in a lot of backstory without it sounding like backstory. I really would have rather had more present day before the jump.
The dynamic between the group of friends was great and I could totally see myself hanging out with these people (even though you would NEVER catch me in a tent).
I'm trying not to spoil....but Molly's inner struggle was the main focus of the story and as a woman who has struggled with fertility, I really connected with her inner demons. I'm not sure someone who hasn't gone through something similar would connect the same way though.
Now for the pink parts... The romance in this story was hot and passionate! The scenes between Molly and Tanner were well written and will leave you looking for a fan or a tall glass of ice tea. Great job.
I was very pleased with the ending. Thank you Ms. Lange for the opportunity to read your work. I recommend it to anyone looking for a contemporary heartfelt and tender reunion romance.

Worth the Risk by Anne Lange is a story of second chances and a delightful read. The story of Molly and Tanner, high school sweethearts with their whole lives ahead of them until Molly makes a decision to set Tanner free. 10 years later they are reunited, questions are answered and they have a second chance at happily ever after. A short novella, but packed with bitter sweet moments and heated scenes, I would recommend this book! It tugged at my heartstrings.
Molly and Tanner are college sweethearts. One day out of the blow, she looks at him and says she wants to move on. Mind you this is after they get physical. I thought that was a VERY guy move on her part. I was like is Molly the woman or the man in this situation? Go forward ten years and a group of friends all get together for what do you think, a wedding? a baby shower? NO they get together to go camping!!?? You get to know abit about these two people. The thing that annoyed me was the constant back and forth over 10 years. Sorry but I like to read in the present. Or start in the past and then continue in the present. Not the constant back and forth.
Molly first ignores Tanner, then it seems they are making out in the next few pages. We of course find out later in the book, why she broke up with him.
They end up later dealing with the past and will have have a future together. I thought it was an ok book. I am not sure if this would be at the top of books I would recommend. I thought it had an ending that was sweet. I About half way through I was getting more into the book. So I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
If second-chance romances are among your favorites, then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The author, Anne Lange, did a remarkable job of creating a startling intense contemporary romance; supported by realistic dialogue. Both protagonists have an unexpected amount of depth and character. I enjoyed the comradely but felt that the author could have written in more moments that included the secondary characters. The main reason this did not earn a higher rating was the predictably. While there are some twists to the story that are not immediately obvious, the revelations revealed were obvious. Overall, I liked the story and will checkout future releases.

Worth the Risk is a contemporary second chance romance set in Canada. Anne Lange does a fantastic job with her imagery and she has a descriptive ability that allows you to feel like you are in Molly's place.
The story takes us through the early relationship between Tanner and Molly, the break up and this chance to be together again when they go on a camping trip with friends. Molly has to have a real soul search to see if she can bring herself to explain her actions from 10 years ago that left both of them sad and missing the other.
A quick read, some steamy camping/beach sex as well as a memorable car scene. This was an enjoyable read that wrapped the whole story and didn't make you feel like part of it was missing.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
After the WTH moment at the start, I thought this one was sweet. I had a feeling I knew what was going on, turns out I was close. Knowing things from Molly's perspective I get why she did what she did, but wished that she would have told Tanner, he lost everything but didn't know why.
I was glad to see that Tanner decided to go after what he lost by inviting himself along on the camping trip. It did seem odd that they jumped back into sex after so long and after the secret came out, but it did make the story more fun to read.
The epilogue was a great way to wrap things up and give us an update on what happened.
A 90 minute one sitting read. This was surprisingly deeper emotionally than I expected it to be. It still has scenes that fog up the windows but there is also a decent plot woven between.
First, I really dislike flashbacks to "the way we were"... especially when it seems like the only real reason to have a flashback is to give the reader more sex scenes. There were enough sex scenes without the past sex scenes. 88 pages of story do not need 4+ sex scenes, okay?
Second, I fucking hate what Molly did to Tanner. The way she broke up with him was horrible. As if that weren't enough, the reason she broke up with him was so god damn ridiculous, I wanted Tanner to beat the shit out of her and walk away. I couldn't believe that nonsense she pulled. She absolutely did not deserve Tanner. Or anyone, really. She was a miserable character.
Ugh. I really didn't like this book. I'm so glad I didn't pay for it, because I'd have demanded a refund. Why this book has so many 4 and 5 star reviews is completely beyond me.
It's sad when the heroine doesn't have enough faith in the man she claims to love, that she lies to him rather than tells the truth and hopes for his support. It was bittersweet.
