Although this book could use more grammatical editing, it draws you in with realistic characters that can be easily related to. A good story for any age group. It starts out sharing a story of an average life of a working, single mom with the worries and concerns that are typical of that position of responsibility. Then, one day everything changes. Is it a good change or a bad change? Read the book yourself to find out :) I look forward to reading Ms. Honeycutt's next book!
I got this book as a good reads giveaway and am glad I did because since I read mostly horror, I may have missed out otherwise. I thought it was creative and interesting and peaked my interest enough to want to read part two and see where she goes next. A secret society......hmmm? I like it!
I expected to enjoy this book which is why I entered the Goodreads giveaway for it, but I didn't expect it to draw me in as quickly and easily as it did. I enjoyed every moment of the read and each of the characters. The story is a wonderful mix of real and paranormal. Honestly, the only reason I rated this a 4 rather than a 5 is because I was bothered by the normal of grammatical errors. I know this is my own pet peeve, but I just can't help it......switched up verbs or pronouns make me a little crazy just because they make me stop and go back to make sure that I read something correctly and I really don't want to do that when I am really caught up in the story itself. I have already purchased book 2 from Amazon and will be running off to read it as soon as I post this so clearly I got past the grammatical errors quickly. I can't wait to see what book 2 has in store for me!
****I won a free copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.****
The story line is one that can easily be loved. I found a sense of adventure growing in me as I read the book. The main characters Kye and Layla grew on me as I continued to read. liked the idea of the guardians and there true forms (when not invisible, ex. Emmalynn). One thing I do wish, Is for the conflict in this book to have started a little earlier. Also, I wasn't a fan of the cliff hanger ending, but overall, the author did a great job at delivering her story.
