Wind in the Ash Tree

Rate this book
In her first book Jeanine described her apprenticeship on her tiny Welsh farm nestled on the hill guarded by the great ash tree. She paints an evocative portrait of her life on the farm in one of Wale's most beautiful and secret valleys.

When the story takes us away from the farm and the animals, it is to accompany Jeanine in her radio work, seeking out rural characters with unusual skills and specializations- from herb gardeners to goose-sexers.

I loved this book. Couldn't put it down. She is so readable. And there is so much humor. So many really great stories of a life lived in a beautiful valley in Wales, surrounded by all sorts of animals with quirky characters. There is one more book in the series - this is the second. I can't wait to start the next one and will be so sad when I am completely finished. Might just have to start over. The first book was 'My Small Country Living' and the last one is 'My Small Country Living Goes On'. I don't like to give 5 stars unless it is just an absolute favorite. I didn't quite want to give it 5 stars, but really felt it deserved more than 4.

Enjoyable but slow. Almost equal to the first but I would buy the first for the info detailed - this one was mostly stories, which was fine but I don't need to own it. I still plan to read the last of the trilogy and want to spend more time in the Welsh countryside next time I am across the pond.
