Arresting Love

Rate this book
Billy Lawson is jealous. Every day he watches his boss, Cole, and his boss's lover, Jonah, prove again and again how deeply in love they are. Billy's never had a real relationship, and he didn't believe true love existed until Cole proved otherwise. Now, he longs for what Cole and Jonah have.

When he meets Levi, a scared, wounded shifter who needs his help, he ignores the chemistry that flares between them, thinking he'd be taking advantage of Levi at a vulnerable time in his life. Before Levi can convince Billy they were made for each other, his past catches up to him, and both men must fight for a chance at love.

This is better than the first book but still a bit questionable. The age gap between Levi and Bill isn't as prominent and the power imbalance less steep, but there's still an age gap and a power imbalance. And 1/4 of the story is still sex scenes.
The plot is good if you take that out the three negatives though. They're big enough to make me uncomfortable, but not big enough to make me want to stop reading.
The ending felt really abrupt though. It built for several chapters only to close in a couple of paragraphs.

How do you raise your eyebrows and glare? Seriously, I can't do it. Is this some freaky weird think like being able to curl your tongue?

Another big age gap. I guess that's how this series is going to go. Ok, not as big as I thought. They made Billy out to be a lot older in the first book. But maturity and responsibility-wise, these two are ages apart.

What happened to Levi's truck?

Cool that the older more experienced guy is the subby bottom.

Dialogue is at times unnatural but the author used "whom" correctly so that's a plus in my suck and twisted works.

I really like how the mom is coming around, that she wasn't just evil and left at that. My experiences talking about homophobic parents with my gay friends is that generally the parents do come around to varying degrees of acceptance. My mom came around to the point that when my ex gf got divorced, she pushed me to get back together with her. I think she was seeing a lesbian relationship as miles above the loser men I'd been dating. :)

This had a lot of the tropes I love, peril angst, sexual tension etc. but somehow the whole wasn't as good as its parts. I just didn't feel the connection. Then again, I've been up 35 hours, no exaggeration, so I'm probably not at my peak book evaluating form.

Why is he afraid? I don't get it. He says he knows Levi won't hurt him. Levi is repeatedly saying he won't go faster or harder because he refuses to hurt him. So why the fear? It's weird and not sexy when it's his lover not some one night stand.

They talk too much for macho men.

That was a rather abrupt ending. Nothing's resolved. I guess you have to keep reading. But something about these books doesn't work for me. I'm not sure why, but I guess I just don't like the characters that much nor their world. I put the book down and have come back to it after a full night's sleep, and I still feel the same. Bummer because the next book is about my favorite character. I just don't think I have it in me.

In 'Arresting Love' by Silvia Violet, readers get to visit with Cole and Jonah, who are as sexy and hot as ever, and Billy, who is as lonely as ever. I liked Billy in the first book and felt sorry for him having to watch Cole and Jonah together. Billy is ready for a serious relationship of his own, but can't imagine finding the happiness that Cole and Jonah have; however, love sometimes comes where and when you least expect it as Billy soon finds out.

Billy is as stubborn as they come, but then he'd have to be to put up with his boss Cole. He's strong and determined and not afraid to stand up for what he feels is right. His moral compass is spot on. I greatly admired him for not taking advantage of Levi, recognizing what a vulnerable position he is in. He takes Levi in and does his best to take care of him even though the chemistry between them is electric. He holds off on those feelings, making all kinds of excuses, for longer than is necessary, but he wants to be sure Levi wants him for himself and not out of some kind of gratitude. Once Levi finally convinces him, there is no holding him back. The feelings between them are strong and the sex is sizzling. Billy believes in Levi and stands behind him regardless of what is happening.

Levi is an amazing young man who has had a very hard life. There is a lot of prejudice and misunderstanding when it comes to shifters and, as a mountain lion shifter, he's caught right in the middle with nowhere to turn. When he meets Billy, he's wary at first, yet he still feels the chemistry between them as well. Billy is too good to be true, but Levi really wants him to be as he seems. Levi realizes he's falling in love with Billy and sets out to convince him that they belong together. Billy's stubbornness is a huge roadblock, but Levi's cat has Billy's number and purrs his way into Billy's heart. I really loved that Levi purrs. It takes an amazing amount of trust for a human to be vulnerable when his partner could kill him with one blow if he lost control, but Billy knows Levi would never hurt him. Besides Billy's amazing trust, Levi is stunned that not only Billy, but the whole crew at the Wild R Farm is willing to believe and defend him. No one has ever stood up for him in the past and he's eternally grateful.

I enjoyed this story even more than the first in the series. Somehow a cat shifter was more appealing to me than a horse or wolf one. Even though the chemistry between Cole and Jonah is amazing, the fact that Billy is human and Levi is a cat shifter makes it even more special. There was a closeness, a tenderness, that isn't as obvious with Cole and Jonah, probably because Cole has a harder time expressing his feelings, although there's no doubt that he loves Jonah. 'Arresting Love' by Silvia Violet is the second book in the 'Wild R Farm' series. While it can be read alone, there are characters and situations will make more sense if the books are read sequentially, which will enhance your reading enjoyment. I recommend this story to everyone who loves cowboys, shifters, action, adventure, intense sexual encounters, and believes there is someone for everyone. Thanks, Silvia! I can't wait for more adventures at the Wild R Farm.

This book continues on and is Billy’s story. Billy is the foreman of the ranch and has been finding it difficult to watch Cole and Jonah blissfully happy. His attitude has forced Cole to send him on a “vacation” to the city. He doesn’t want to go and ends up at a bar, however when he gets disgusted with the games most of the guys seem to be into, he leaves but sees a young man sitting in the rain. On impulse he offers him a ride and lets him have his hotel room for the night.

However, he suspects Levi is a shifter, and he admits he’s been injured by a cat. Billy offers him a job on the farm and takes him home. Cole flips because Levi is a mountain lion and his wolf is not happy, however Billy makes him see that Cole would take in a stray, so why not Levi? However Billy is determined to stay clear and not take advantage of the young man.

After a month, Levi’s had enough, and the predator comes out, which is right up Billy’s alley. He still doesn’t want to admit there is more to it, but just when things are heating up, Levi is arrested for murdering his former boss. After Cole freaks out, again, they determine to do what they can to help him out, even going against an entire bigoted town, only Jonah’s mother, who let her second husband and son abuse Jonah and things shifters are sinful, seems to have gotten to know Levi and may be having a change of heart.

Once again, it was a bit of a role reversal, where the younger man was the more aggressive predator, and the older man was the prey, and wanted it that way. When Levi got all alpha-cat (?), and stalking Billy it was very hot. I still held a grudge against Jonah’s mother for allowing Jonah to be treated as he was when he was young, but I suppose… LOL I have the ability to hold a grudge against judgmental asshole parents for a long time.

So this kind of followed a similar theme to the first book, but it was a fun read that kept me entertained. I’m quite looking forward to the next book which I believe is Jonah’s slutty flamboyant cousin Tristan and Cole’s “straight” PI friend who helped cleared Levi. There is much more to Tristan than meets the eye, so it should be fun to see that.

Arresting Love is the second book in the Wild R Farm shifter series by Silvia Onyx. Although this is a second book in a series, and pretty much starts where the first book left off, it can be read as a standalone novel. Arresting Love focuses on the story of Billy, the ranch manager, and Levi, a new hand at the ranch who needs a fresh start. We meet Billy in the first book in the series, and he is an all-around good person. He is a hard worker, loyal friend to Cole and his crew but he is really lonely. His loneliness at the beginning of this book, breaks your heart a little bit because you want him to find his happy ever after. I enjoyed this book more than the first in the series. We get to know the characters better in this story and there is an interesting build up in the story line. I love the relationship Billy and Levi develop with each other, there is a sharing of power and nurturing in the relationship to give each other what they both need. The book introduces us to more characters at the farm and brings back earlier ones. I know there are three books in the series but I am hoping Silvia Onyx will consider expanding the series now that she is revising the series.
I received an ARC for my honest review.

Billy is forced to go on a vacation by his boss a wolf shifter. Billy had been content to just have random sex but now watching Cole and Jonah he wants more.
Levi is a scared young boy lost and alone on the streets and on the run. Though looks can be deceiving. He is also a mountain lion.
I thought the story was pretty good though this is a second book in the series. I didn’t realize and was lost for a chapter or so. Eventually the backstory was filled in sometimes in big chunks almost like dropping back and reading another book. I also found the shifters living together like Jonah being a horse and his lover being a wolf then bring in poor sad young Levi as a mountain lion to work and live on the ranch was a bit hard to believe. BUT this is after all fiction and when you set it aside and don’t overthink these things, the story is sweet and loving. I am always a sucker for hard fought true love , so I liked that the meeker seeming Levi was more dominate in private with the more controlled Billy. I will be getting the first and looking forward to the third!
I recommend this to anyone liking unusual shifter, like horse, and mountain lines, werewolves, mystery, and hot mansex

The worlds that Ms. Violet creates thrill me. I've always enjoyed stories of werewolves, but Ms. Violet introduced me to so many more. In this story we meet a mountain lion shifter and Billy falls for the young Levi. This is a great story, every bit as good as the first one in the series.

Billy and Levi are hot together, with Levi being surprisingly dominant.

I know Ms. Violet has laid the groundwork for a book three (and if it's the characters I'm hoping it will be, I'm first in line for that book!) that will once again take us back to the Wild R Farm world and I couldn't be happier about that.

Whilst I really enjoyed book one in the Wild R series, the fact that it was a horse shifter was something out of my reading comfort zone (and no, I don't know why!)... But I really enjoyed book 2... love me some Cat... he he...

Again with Silvia, a cuppa and a sit down with this visit to the Wild R as a guilty indulgence should go on your list... So pleased Billy was front and centre...

This is the second book in the Wild R Farm books and I like it even more than the first book. It’s like Silvia needs the first book in a series to got the feeling for the surroundings right and from the second book it’s full 5*. This book is about Billy, who we met him in the first book. Cole sends him on a “vacation” to relax. As expected, it is everything but relaxed and he ends up cutting his vacation short and bringing home Levi. Levi is a cat shifter and not in a good situation when Billy finds him. Billy’s mind is set on not taking advantage of Levi even if he would like it so there’s some work to do. Like most of Silvia’s books this was a one day, read every available minute, read. I really loved this one and I’m very curious for the rest of the books.

Billy, the barn manager of the Wild R Farm, is forced to take a few days vacation because his boss Cole, a wolf shifter can smell that something is off. Billy is jealous of the relationship his boss has with Jonah, a horse shifter he saved in a previous book. So Billy goes to Nashville where he meets Levi, a mountain lion. Billy brings Levi back to the farm. They get to know each other but then Levi's past catches up to him.
There's some history from Jonah's past and recurring characters from the previous book. The action is okay but a lot could have been resolved by talking. There are a few things that didn't add up and for me Billy and Levi's love story just didn't work. I would have loved to give more stars, but I have read way better stuff by this author.

A nicely done shifter story with heat, suspense and a great cast of characters. I accidentally read this book before reading the first one and that is never a good thing, as no matter how many things the author briefly explains, you never feel as connected to the foundation of the series. The story was intense and emotional at times, sweet and sexy too. The world building was interesting, with shifters treated as lower class citizens. And then there is Wild R Farm with a colorful rainbow of gay shifters and humans smack dab in the middle of a heavily religious town that shuns gays. Enjoyable even though I read it out of order! Great job Silvia.

I really enjoyed the latest book in the Wild R Farm series!!! Billy is the ranch manager and is in Nashville on a forced vacation. While there he meets Levi who is needing some help and a place to work. Billy is instantly drawn to Levi and wants to be there for him and offers him a job at the ranch. Sparks fly the more they spend time together but Billy refuses to take advantage of Levi. Until Levi takes matters into his own hands. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and loved every minute of their story. I laughed, cried and swooned during the hot times. I can't wait for the next book in this amazing series, well done!

Quick fun read. I liked both main characters, especially Billy who was very endearing and easy to like. My favorite part of this book were the cast of side characters, both Cole and Tristian added some nice humor. I enjoyed the book overall, I would have liked some more details about Levi‘s past and the mystery part of the plot was resolved a little quickly. Levi and Billy have some sweet moments and I like them together. I am definitely interested in more of Tristian and Wes, they had some great chemistry.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This book is awesome! The story of Billy and Levi is filled with danger, love and finding your place. A mandatory vacation will send Billy to Nashville where he will find Levi, scared and alone. I love the way their relationship develops and how Billy tries hard to be a gentleman and not do anything to make Levi feel like he’s being taken advantage of. Levi has a tough road ahead of him but the support he gets from Billy, Jonah and even Cole make this book an amazing story and a definite must read!

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

When a vacation gets ranch manager Billy to loosen up a bit, he ends up meeting Levi. Someone whom he cannot deny his draw to and has a need to help.
With Levi coming to the ranch, they eventually have the opportunity to explore what’s between them but the past has a way of rearing it’s ugly head.

An exciting, entertaining read that will keep you in the edge of your seat with its vast array of characters, the sizzling chemistry between the main characters, the mystery, drama, mentions of abuse and elements of family that the plot has woven into it. The shifting is definitely an added bonus.

Great read. Billy is looking for love in all the wrong places, until Cole sends him on a weekend vacation. When Billy see a guy who may be in need he stops to lend a helping hand. Levi is running from something and when Billy offers to help him out Levi takes it. Billy knows Levi's a shifter but not sure what kind of shifter he is. Levi is a Mountain Lion and his sights are set on Billy. Billy tries his hardest to avoid Levi, but Levi isn't going to let his prey get away so easily.

Billy gets sent on a weekend vacation and while in Nashville comes across Levi sitting in the coke at the bus stop. He sees himself in Levi and wants to help the younger guy out.
Levi is keeping a big secret that eventually comes out.
Everyone comes together to help Levi prove his innocence.
Sparks fly between Billy and Levi. Once they stop running from their feelings everything else will fall into place. Including a HEA.

Decent, fun read. Best read after the first in series for enjoyable continuity.
Billy is sweet, and caught my attention in the first book. So glad he got his HEA here. Levi is a great match for him, quiet and unassuming, until he's not (🔥 when he needs it). While the homophobia is still present, certain characters overcome it, and actually become helpful. Nice to see characters growing and evolving.

I think I enjoyed Billy and Levi's story even more than the characters and story from the first book. Although, I loved that book too. When reading the first book, I was hopeful that one day Billy would get his HEA, and upon meeting Levi, I wanted the same for him too. They both deserved it and suffered for too long. I'm so glad they found each other. They were truly meant for each other.

This was another thrilling and completely captivating installment in this series.

Good book

This book was just as good as the first one. While Levi and Billy are the MCs, we still get to see Cole and Jonah too. Billy and the rest of the hands are determined to help Levi, even Cole once he gets over himself. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next one with Wes and Tristan.

Unable To Resist.

MM, Shifter, Cowboy, Small Town, Paranormal, Romance. The second book in the series, can be read as a stand-alone but best when read as part of the series and in series order. Easy to read story full of intrigue, heat and so much more. Fun read with a guaranteed HEA.

This book was unexpected! I liked Billy immediately and felt his desire for his own happily ever after but I didn't expect a dominant cat!
Great flow to the story, nice to see Cole and Jonah but much nicer to know that everyone deserved a happy ending.
