The Parent's Book of Ballet: Answers to Critical Questions About the Care and Development of the Young Dancer

Rate this book
If there is one thing that is of the utmost importance in the study of ballet it is that the early development of the dancer is vitally important. Without this early training no dancer can feel the true flow of movement so necessary later on. This book will help guide parents through the joys of a classical training and prepare the young dancer to make the ultimate choice about a career. Choices and timing are essential in this where to study, whether and when to attend a boarding school, how to find the right teacher, when to go on pointe… This book finally puts things in order…it explains in clear words the pros and cons of the ballet process. Really enjoyed it. Tracked very closely to pretty much everything we've experienced over the past 6 years and to things happening now. Think it is a good read, especially for any parent without a ballet history trying to understand and support their kids.

I've read both editions, and if you have a child who lives to dance, and is serious about a career in dance, then you need to read this book. The advice is practical and realistic.
