The Last Iteration Of Dexter Maxwell is the first book in a series that takes the reader on an exciting journey to find out who Dexter Maxwell really is. The novel explores the intersection of different technologies and how they evolve subject to one another, and the intersection of science and faith. There are implicit thematic elements of sustainability and balance, and on the influence of information technology. -- Dex knows first-hand how tough it is living on the edge of a thoroughly technologized civilization in Grenver, Colorado. But it also has its perks. With his small league of street-smart outcasts, he's snarled the system with some of the most brazen stunts of the 22nd century. Not bad for an orphaned sewer rat that can't remember his childhood and will most likely end up iced for ages like any other criminal. No past, no future: no problem. As long as Dex has his friends and his mischief, he'll be alright. But after a botched stunt, Dex wakes up a foreigner in a brutal, bizarre underground city controlled by more than one shameless force-blind, a sword strapped to his back, and an old man telling him he's the vital component of the coming revolution. Dex can barely take in the reality of a new time before he's on the run, hunted by vicious assassins, and mixed up in a deadly plot a millennium in the making-and with the fate of two worlds at stake. -- Start an action-packed journey with THE LAST ITERATION OF DEXTER MAXWELL to find out who Dexter Maxwell really is. ADVENTUROUS SCIENCE FICTION SEASONED WITH SUSTAINABILITY.
Matthew has been involved in the global technology industry since 1998, which is interesting given his degree in History. He made his name in the database industry co-authoring six technology books, all of which sold well under a million copies. He has also been in various positions of leadership, running software development teams and generally getting all kinds of interesting things done. Raised in Idaho, he spent a decade in Colorado before settling into Kansas City where he currently lives with his family and whatever critters have set up shop in the basement and/or attic. Matthew is currently the Vice President of Technical Business Solutions at Arise Virtual Solutions.
“The Last Iteration of Dexter Maxwell” is his first novel.
This was an absorbing read from page one through the final page. The characters are still with me and I can't wait for the 2nd book! I usually don't read sci-fi, but I am glad I picked this up. Choose this one for plot twists and great character development.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes good, long futuristic novels filled with surprises, action, and great characters. I recommended this book on Amazon.com, too. I have a disclaimer: Matthew Hart is a friend of the family, but I would not be writing this review if I didn't like the book. I would be nodding and smiling sweetly, saying, "Oh, yeah. I liked it." No, this is much better than that. I can't wait for the next book, and the best way to get the next book published is to make this one a success, so BUY IT! I can easily see this book as a really cool movie or TV series, especially considering the renaissance Sci-Fi has been experiencing over the past few years.
This is NOT some self-published novel riddled with typos and contradictions. This is smart writing in an exciting plot acted on by characters that make the journey worth your time. You will be rooting for Dexter to overcome all of his challenges, and for the bad guy to get what's coming to him. You will enjoy the plot twists, and find yourself imagining the scenes as if you were there.
Buy it. Read it. The worst part about it is when it is over.
