I thought this book was very informative to beginning readers. The selected this book because of the set up of the ABC's and the way the pictures to real life captured the reader as well. It is important that this book provides urban students with a real life image when studying about rural areas and/or farming in general. This book would be great not only with teaching students the ABC's but also taking it even further to what life looks like in a rural area on a farm. Also this book would be a good one to use to introduce their teacher and what Ms. Holsted's life was like growing up/where she came from.

I liked that the book was a touch the texture kind of book. But I really hated the ending. I thought it was corny. Why couldn't "C" be for cow instead of corn? Why not end with "Z" is for Zucchini instead of zebra?

A Christmas gift from Grandma Weezie, the boys quickly destroyed all the movable parts in this book. It's still high on the list of their favorite ABC books, though. They can still remember who removed which piece.
