On his way to visit Snuffy, who is sick in bed with the sniffles, Big Bird gets loaded with presents from other well-wishing Muppets and barely makes it to Snuffy's bedside.
In 1942, the launch of Little Golden Books revolutionized children’s book publishing by making high-quality picture books available at affordable prices. More than 60 years later, many of the original Golden Book titles are still wildly popular, with The Poky Little Puppy topping the list of ten bestselling children’s books of all time. Golden Books’ backlist is teeming with classics such as Dorothy Kunhardt’s Pat the Bunny, and features the stories and artwork of children’s book legends Mary Blair, Margaret Wise Brown, Richard Scarry, Eloise Wilkins, Garth Williams, and many more. Today, the Golden Books imprint includes an array of storybooks, novelty books, and coloring and activity books featuring all of the most popular licenses, including Disney, Nickelodeon, Barbie, Thomas & Friends, The Cat in the Hat, Sesame Street, Marvel Super Heroes, and DC Super Friends. Golden Books continues to reissue the best of its backlist in a variety of formats, including ebooks and apps, as well as bringing out brand-new books in these evolving new formats.
I remember reading this during my younger days and, as I have said before, Sesame Street has done an outstanding job converting their show into books. In this particular book, Snuffy is sick with the sniffles and Big Bird goes to his cave to cheer him up, getting gifts from friends to give to him along the way. Big Bird feels guilty about not getting him a gift, but what happens upon his visit with Snuffy presents us with a message as to what friendship and compassion truly mean. This is a heartwarming book that can be appreciated by young readers as well as adults and young adults looking for a bit of nostalgia or just a good story.
I read this years ago, so I could not place a specific date onto this one. I know I read this when I was around six, but am sure I read it several times earlier as well.
a kid asked me to read this to him on a day that i too have the sniffles, so now i feel a connection to Snuffy. (my cookie monster impersonation was worth the coughing fit that followed)
I read this every time has gotten sick. I have had this ebook since April of 2020 and it has been so helpful even when my daughter isnt feeling well. She will be 2 in july and i plan on keep on reading this one to her
My love of reading started when i was young, and it gives me immense pleasure to provide books to Spread the Word Nevada, an organization that passes them on to children in the community. They are a terrific organization supporting an important cause. If your local I encourage you to check them out. For those living further a field, look in your own community, their may already be a similar program in place. And if not, you can always help start one.
Myself, I go out on the weekends and shop thrift store and bulk book lots to rescue books and donate them. Sometimes I'll find a book I remember reading when I was young and will read it again before passing it on.
I don't rate these books using my normal scale, instead I give most of them three stars. This isn't a Criticism of the book, simply my way of rating them as good for children.
