How to Integrate the Curricula

Rate this book
Formerly a SkyLight publication.Brain research shows that connected learning is a more sustainable model of learning. For teachers, teams, and schools trying to integrate curricula, Fogarty describes 10 different models and explains the best uses of each model in this updated edition of How to Integrate the Curricula . This resource presents the ten models with examples and reproducibles that educators can use as they plan their own integrated curricula, and stresses two important factors-meeting standards and designing instruction suited to the way students learn best.

A good overview of the many ways to think about how subject disciplines, life skills, and cognitive skills can be integrated in K-12 education in order to improve school's relevance and comprehensibility for students. As the book points out, it is far easier to integrate the curricula in a single-teacher classroom. However, the book does provide some guidance for jr high and high school teachers who wish to collaborate on the development of individual units and/or general skill development planning.
