About the author

Over six-and-a-half feet tall, with a bushy beard, Philip Ardagh is not only very big but also very hairy. He is the author of the Eddie Dickens Trilogy and when not writing silly books, Mr. Ardagh is quite serious and frowns a great deal. He lives in a seaside town somewhere in England with his wife and their son, Fred.

Ligero, corto y rápido de leer. Contiene algunos datos interesantes sobre el amor, como por ejemplo: el hecho de que en la época victoriana se enviaran pequeños mensajes de amor con las iniciales de las piedras preciosas o que el anillo de bodas se coloque en el anular porque los egipcios creían que existía una vena especial que conectaba este dedo de la mano izquierda con el corazón.
Pero en general son datos, curiosidades y rituales de amor muy brevemente explicados que ya conocemos o que son más del interés para los ingleses.

Es interesante la forma en que el libro responde a las preguntas que plantea, de forma coloquial y exponiendo el origen histórico de las cuestiones. Sin embargo, el título no es del todo adecuado. El tema no es el amor, sino el origen de algunas expresiones culturales del amor y supersticiones sobre la búsqueda de pareja.

It is interesting how the book answer the questions it poses. It have a colloquial way and exposes the historical origin of the issues. However, the title is not entirely appropriate. The topic is not love, but the origin of some cultural expressions of love and superstitions about the search of a partner.

HAY ALGO MÁS INENTENDIBLE QUE EL AMOR?
Pues acá te dan datos curiosos.
No es una novela romántica, es un libro de no ficción que cuenta curiosidades sobre tradiciones, símbolos y todo aquello que relacionamos al amor romántico.
Me gustó, es ligero, fácil de leer y te da datos que sería muy raro que conocieras de buenas a primera.
El libro perfecto de estudio, para la gente cursi...

Es un libro sencillo, curioso y fácil de leer. Además, he aprendido muchísimas cosas sobre nuestras tradiciones, de dónde vienen y por qué comenzaron a hacerse. Si tenéis curiosidad sobre el amor y todos los mitos que lo rodean, el libro te resultará muy entretenido. Eso sí, es bastante corto y en algunos pasajes el autor parece no haberse documentado con muchas ganas. Para mí, un regalo muy resultón para San Valentín.
