Rate this book
Tired of the 9-to-5 grind and want a way to earn or to supplement your income? Easy. The media has named the growing trend toward micro-entrepreneurship "the Rise of the Creative Class," "the Gig Life," or "the freelance economy." All of those refer to the nearly 4 million workers who were self-employed this past year, and millions of others who currently supplement their income with freelance work. While the trend has been spotted before, there's one stark difference between micro-entrepreneurs today and the "Free Agent Nation" citizens of the late '90 technology. Micro-Entrepreneurship For Dummies shows you how to navigate this confusing technological landscape in order to make a contributable profit.Micro-Entrepreneurship For Dummies aids you in making the best use of micro-entrepreneurial platforms, with helpful advice that includes information on signing up for and selling products on websites such as Airbnb, Craigslist, Taskrabbit, Uber, and Etsy.Micro-enterprise, using online platforms to sell products or services, is a proven way to earn extra money and supplement household income In today's struggling economy, the importance of self-run businesses and small enterprise is growing as more people take lower-paying jobs and need a little extra spending money Shows you how to sign up for and sell products online Micro-Entrepreneurship For Dummies appeals to anyone looking to earn or supplement their income from home.

I was rather impressed by how relevant it was as I tend to view the "For Dummies" range as a bit too simple in most cases. This was not.

Pretty much covers everything you'd want to know. IF. you want to build a business in the United States. (The brand should really put a little flag on to show target country)

However the information is applicable to any country really and in this day and age, you'll find the local variations simply. In some cases, the products or services mentioned are global which is great. I did spot a few that are no longer in business so always check!

The book I read to research this post was Micro-Entrepreneurship For Dummies by Paul Mladjenovich which is an excellent book which I read at
http://safaribooksonline.com
This book is probably of most use to those looking for a second or extra income to their main job rather than those looking to do something full time. Of course if you are successful you can always turn to doing whatever it is full time. It covers a huge amount of ways of getting potential income and there is lots of advice on things like outsourcing work and accounts. I did do a post a while back about how some people do lots of little jobs on http://fiverr.com and although only get about $3.67 per job or something like that do lots of jobs and make a nice second income. Also look at the arts and crafts section of http://about.com and consider personalizing some of the projects and selling them on http://etsy.com & http://ebay.com. Your business should at the very least have a facebook page, blog & twitter presence. Many would add a website with ecommerce and a linkedin page. You should look at what your skills are and a couple of good sites for being a virtual assistant and making money are http://elance.com & http://mturk.com. You may find you need to concentrate with regard to being assistance adapt your skills to what's available. With doing something like arts and crafts or even buying cheap in one place and reselling the key is to specialize and be a bit different to everyone else. I really enjoyed this book which is absolutely brimming with ideas.
