As the four ninja, do their best to fend off the evil Serpentine beings, they are left to reflect on their interactions with one another. One in the group seems a little too odd and is mocked every chance they get. Following a clue in the sky, the ninja are led to them Serpentine secret hideout, but things go wrong and they leave their own abode unguarded for too long. While they are away, the ninja do not realise that someone is stealing a prized possession before setting the compound ablaze. With no home and little direction, Ninjago may be in danger. However, the ninja learn an important lesson about family by the end. Neo likes this books, even if the storylines seem to meander a little on occasion. He asks lots of questions and seems to take much away from the stories, always asking if we can find more.

Max (age 6): I liked when Zane iced the whole rooftop. The ninja learned to treat their brothers nicely.

Mandy: Ugh. I don't care for the ninjago books. But this was a quick read and Max loves the series right now.

My 6 year old says about the book: I really liked the part where they smelt pie. Which was at the end. There was a very good part where they were fighting. I like the général from the snake army and that they used ice weapons. They were fighting and scales won and became the general. And I also like the food for the dragon. And the general lost.

Great book that focuses a bit more on the mysterious Zane, but all the ninja are here of course. There's also a complex subplot involving Lloyd, Cole, Scales the serpentine warrior, and a power struggle in the hypnobrai sect of serpentines. My kids loved it. If you can find the double-book edition with #4 and #5 combined, I strongly recommend it.

An okay read. Lots of pictures, but feels a lot like a general marketing ploy. Not a great a plot or anything, but fun to explore the world of legos.
