Birds add color, movement, and music to any backyard. Ortho's How to Attract Birds shows how to attract beautiful visitors by creating the habitats they prefer. Using this handy guide's specific instructions for making feeders, birdhouses, and gardens, you'll be able to attract the birds you most enjoy to your home.
A book for those who are just starting out with their garden, birdhouses, etc. It's not specific to any area of the US, so it provides a lot of general information.
The suggestions for how to build bird baths, bird feeders, and bird houses from household items were creative, easy, and inexpensive. Also useful were suggestions for how to vary shrubbery and garden plantings to attract birds. Good springboard for beginning birders.
I'm going to go ahead and mark this one as done as it's the kind of book you leaf through, reading a bit here and there.
I really liked it for it's ideas on presenting water, figuring out which foods are favorites (a sampling tray works well), and how to use suet. I'll wait to use the birdhouse ideas for when I move to another area, testing out area birds with different seed offerings.
