This is a keeper reference book for me.
I enjoy a good solitary game, so, I ventured through the library shelves and found this repository of more games of single-player playing card games.
The table of contents divides the games by strategy type: Closed, Half-Open, and Open, with a section about using two, or more, players; within each part there is a further division by characteristics of strategy within the game, such as Builders, and Packers. This is followed by a great chapter with How to Get Started- this may seem elementary, however, it introduces vocabulary, strategy, and principles of play.
Each entry name informs if there are other names for the game, the number of playing cards used. Most listings will also mention the odds for, against, or even, in winning the game.
There is an occasional illustration for some of the layouts. The selected bibliography will, no doubt, prove to be a great horde to search through for more games, however, this book offers 400, that is quite the number to match. An index is provided to find a game by name.
I am thrilled that I found this.
