I got up to chapter 11 in this book. It a great grammar book and I learned alot, but I did not find the CDs very useful except for the conversations. I may finish the last 2 chapters eventually, but I am taking a break from it for a while.

I highly recommend it. I used this book to teach myself Spanish a few years ago, augmented with a couple of dictionaries and little grammar references, and after three months I was decent enough to get streamed in near the top of an intermediate Spanish class.

Looking back, the book is rather English-heavy and possibly could do with a few more examples of Spanish text, but as far as I know this is the best teach-yourself book on Castillian Spanish out there.

This is the first Spanish reference book I have tried after learning the basics in Duolingo. I think this is a great book for beginners. The Audio CD has all the spanish words pronounced page by page. Excellent pronunciation. Basic theories and grammars are explained well. The exercise given are adequate. If you are gonna use this book, I suggest don't rush. Try to do the exercises properly.

Hugo books has honesty exceeded my expectation, clearly written, easy to follow with each word broken down to help with pronunciation. The only down side was it didn't come with a CD, but the structure makes it very easy to follow and gain an understanding.
