The foundation, the author lays has interesting tidbits that actually make good reading, such as the fact that the guy who edits the New York Times crossword puzzle designed his own major at the University of Indiana in puzzle-making. The author designs a systematic approach to demystifying choosing a major, and for that credit is due. It doesn't make great reading straight through for someone interested in the field professionally, but even there, he is able to show occasionally how societal trends, impact particular fields.

This book has a pretty good amount of information and exercises to use in making one's choice of major. The exercises involve taking note of your skills, interests, favorite high school courses, and other factors. Although I highly recommend taking more than 90 minutes to do so, this volume can be helpful. In my case, after having already done extensive research on my options, it at least confirmed that the majors I had been leaning towards would probably be good choices for me.
