I bought this by accident from the college bookstore my freshman year. Decades ago. It's been sitting on a shelf ever since. I picked it up to break a break from buying new books - a break which lasted a week or two. I probably have better poetry collections, but they are physically unwieldy and I read in bed, so here we are.

I think I don't like poetry collections. Perhaps something representative of an identifiable particular style & era - a collection of Romantic poetry or Beat poetry, okay. But a general gathering of contemporary poetry? Meh.

Some of the poems in this spoke to me (and yes, I made myself read them all), but no one had more than 3 poems in the book - most had one - so if I liked a particular poet, that was it. I didn't even have the opportunity to determine whether I just connected with that particular topic, or whether they spoke to me with their style and talent.

I guess others agree with my apathy, since this books seems to be unfindable to the point that it doesn't even have a cover on Goodreads.

Of all the poetry anthologies i have read or tried to read none had more beautiful poems than this, none in which i didn't want to skip a poem as in this.
