I won't lie. I literally died when I saw this on here. This is PTSD all the way back to fourth grade. Great book, don't get me wrong, just really fun memories.
One cd is missing. Better than some beginning books. It would had been harder, if I didn't already have some musical training to fall back on and I found other learning aides.
This book doesn't contain many actual pieces to play, so if you want a repertoire-heavy experience, look elsewhere. But if you want an extremely organized presentation of playing in the higher positions on the violin with accessible material that isn't a two-page etude so dry and difficult that learning it is about as pleasant as a trip to the dentist, this book is for you. For each higher position on each string, there is a picture showing the relationship of finger placement between first position and the higher one. In my Braille edition, these images were clearly described. While I read through the book in a single sitting to absorb the overall methodology, I will be using it for at least the rest of this year to build up my own technique. As with so many other method books, this one works best when combined with other materials. Even so, if you can only purchase one book for long-term study and improvement on the violin, this is a great option.
