D.K Publishing uses proper vocabulary to deliver accurate information to it's readers. They make sure they use big words to sound sophisticated yet its also easy to understand. There is also an index and a glossary at the end in case the reader didn't understand something. It is perfect if the reader has an important project to study animals. In the book it includes a table of contents so the reader can easily find and access the information they need. Pictures are included to display features. D.K includes diagrams as well and family trees to show the relationships between species. The book also has enough animals and not just the basic generic animals. The one thing that could improve is to have it be more specific on the individual animals.

I love these eyewitness books. I know they are written for a younger audience but its just so cool to be able to see some of the history things I read about so much more clearly. Amazing pictures and I always learn something new. Highly recommended

What: This book is a great example of how animals fit into their environment. In the beginning of the book, it mainly discusses the different types of animals such as invertebrates, invertebrates, warm-blooded, cold-blooded, and so on. As you move through these topics you start reading about a specific area, and how different species live in that area. For example. in areas that are cold and covered in ice, beluga whales and polar bears camouflage into the white background making it easier to sneak up on prey, or hide from a predator.
So What: Students must understand how different animals interact with the environment around them.
Now What: Students will choose an animal, in this book or not, and research how it uses its environment.
