Thank you for the ARC of the children's book called When Princess Addison gets angry. My 6 year old daughter and I read this together. Just like me, she enjoys reading books. It was a quick read. I asked her if she enjoyed the story. She said she did. I noticed her smiling while reading it. She said that she learned an important lesson. I'm not going to say what it is because I don't want to spoiled it for others but it was spot on. This book was perfect for my daughter and I'm hoping she will remember it and the lesson she learned to apply it in her everyday life.

My daughter rated it a 4 stars.

I liked this. A princess feels angry when it's raining because she can't go outside and do all the things she wants to do. A good book for teaching little ones how to regulate your emotions and negative feelings.

2nd read: 5- stars

I read it the second time because I have to remind myself not to stoop down to their level of crass (points to the west.pfft!) and even if they are more professionally high and mighty, I have to exercise what I call emotional elegance, like Princess Addison. More win for me, right?

I now feel a lot better, thanks to this book.

Cute and graceful

I enjoyed this one. It teaches children to hold their anger. It also reminds adults to hold their temper, as well. We need this book in this day and age.

Some books come along at just the right time. That's what happened for me when I had a chance to read and review Molly Martin's new picture book, Princess Addison Gets Angry.

Addison is a princess. She appears to live a pretty sweet life that includes a king and queen for parents, butlers to do whatever butlers do, nice friends, and a couple of friendly dogs for pets. However, even princesses can have a bad day. On a sad day when it's raining and Princess Addison can't go out and pick flowers, she throws one heck of a tantrum. Her mom is there for her, both to comfort her and to set some parameters on how to deal with all of those big feelings without hurting someone else.

This book spoke to me because I have a lovely, spirited three year old in my life who can also throw one heck of a tantrum. As her mom, the things that upset her don't always make sense to me, but I know they are important to her. I've been struggling with how to get through to her for a while. I sat her down to read the book with me and she instantly mad a connection with Addison. We talked about Addison's anger, about the expressions on her face, and what a bummer it is when you want to do something and forever whatever reason, you just can't. My three year old LOVED this book and asked me to read it to her several times in a row.

The best thing about this book is that it has made a positive impact on our life. I initially thought the book was too instructive for my taste, but I'm really impressed with the way this book reached my daughter. I was able to reference it during a future tantrum and she drew from some of Addison's mom's advice. It actually diffused the situation. I'm not going to complain about that, so I will declare this book a winner for me. I would recommend it to a parent of a 2-4 year old who is looking for a simple, easy-to-understand book about the emotion of anger.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I did not receive any other compensation for this review.

Princess Addison’s Anger Bring Smiles to Readers

From her red frizzy hair and tiara, to her ballet shoes and tutu, the main character of Molly Martin’s book, Princess Addison, is a charmer. The princess herself, as is only fitting, will introduce young readers to the royal family. Following the introductions, readers are treated to her favorite things to do each day.

This inclusion into her Royal Highness’s daily life leads into the reasoning behind the adjustments to her usual royal title. Children will easily empathize with the case of grumps the princess has managed to catch. Each reader will delight in this story of the Princess within every girl. It shows how the grumps can the better of us all at times.

Adults taking a chance to bond with his or her child will appreciate the thoughtful way the princess’s feelings are addressed. Not only does this book show the great worth of open communication with children, but also exemplifies to children the appropriate way to deal with the emotions that a case of the grumps can stir up.

Melanie Florian’s use of softened, yet vibrant, colors bring the height of whimsy to the life Martin has created in her book. While the book does feature a princess, and not a prince, it would be easy to utilize the book, and all the fun it holds, to discuss feelings of anger and how to deal with being displeased in appropriate manners for either girls or boys. One thing is for sure, when this book hits shelves it will find many happy homes, quickly.

Princess Addison Gets Angry (Princess Heart Series)
Written By: Molly Martin
Illustrated By: Melanie Florian
Hardcover, 34 pages

Princess Addison Gets Angry is a delightful story about an only child whose usual daily routine gets rained on…literally.

The enchanting Princess Addison Lorelei Tiffany Genevieve Sinclair, Princess Addison for short, has an enthralling life consisting of play time with her closest friends, walking her dogs, taking strolls in the garden and dancing by the fountain. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has disrupted her plans and Princess Addison is Princess Angry! Cue full scale temper tantrum!

Luckily, after a small reminder from her Mommy, “A Princess may get angry, but a Princess never hits people or breaks things.” The abhorrent Princess Angry once again becomes the endearing Princess Addison and finds other ways to occupy herself. A walk, a book, some playful licks from her puppies and talking about her angry feelings seem to do the trick. Those angry feelings dissipate and our Princess realizes, “A Princess always knows there is always tomorrow.”

There are currently four books in the Princess Heart Series, all dealing with emotions such as happy, sad, angry and scared. Miss Martin and Miss Florian make a wonderful team with their written word and captivating illustrations on display. You can find the Princess Heart books at online retailers such as Amazon.com

**Received a copy in exchange for an honest review**

This sweet story about a princess whose playtime is cut short because of a little rain would be a great addition to your preschoolers book collection. The message is loud and clear; don't fret little pet, the rain will clear and everything will be status quo before you know it. What mom or dad doesn't tell their kid that daily?

Now my little princess loved this book for several reasons: One, the colors are bright and the book includes a LOT of pink (my daughter has a pink obsession that borders on addiction); and two, because it's about a princess, albeit a cranky, bossy, cry because mommy can't change the weather system brat, but she's still royalty and that always wins over my kid. But don't worry, even Princess Addison sees the error of her ways and changes her demonic foot stomping behavior.

If you need a book that helps with those moments that make you wish airline tickets to far off islands that prohibit children were cheaper then Princess Addison Gets Angry is a good option. It will satisfy your darling daughters penchant for pastel royals, while throwing in a lesson Miss Manners would approve of. It lost a quarter of a point because I don't particularly like all the books based on princesses...what's wrong with Soccer Star Addison, or Math Wiz Addison?

This is a cute children's book about Princess Addison, a princess with a really long name, who gets angry.
She wants to walk her dog and pick flowers for her room, but she wakes up to see that it's raining that day. So, she cannot do any of that.
So, her mother talks to her about feelings and emotions and always remembering that she's a princess. Then, all is fine.

A nice book to read to young children about staying calm when feeling angry. The brightly coloured pictures would please most children and certainly help keep their attention. I don't think the story goes far enough in terms of strategies as these ones are well known and useful when a child is frustrated, but less so when they are really angry. However, it certainly allows for discussion with children about other things they could do if angry or even the sorts of situations where they feel angry.

She is a young princess of many names, but today she is known as Princess Angry! She is angry because a rainstorm has spoiled her day! She can't walk her dogs or play in the garden. Her mom tells her how to deal with her anger like a princess: "For a princess knows there's always tomorrow, and tomorrow it might not rain." This is not only a cute princess story for little girls but a pleasant story for all young kids about handling their anger.

I read this for my five year old boy and six year old girl. My daughter loved it. My son was a little bit bored and walked around. However, we all found the water color illustrations captivating and fun.

I really loved the fact that the book told kids how to help themselves calm down when they are angry. The book discussed breathing and positive thinking. Something my kiddies needed.

I think this book an excellent resource to use with little ones to explain anger, what are and are not appropriate expressions of anger, and some ways to calm down. This book is an excellent way to start a discussion on how a kid expresses their anger and ways they calm down. Will definitely be recommending this book to others.

Lovely lovely book about a little princess who has some anger management issues! I will read this one with my younger daughter. The story talks about how we can deal with our negative emotions, what we can do instead of breaking things and shout. Nice message.
