Great book detailing the history and subsequent discovery of the 1622 shipwreck of the well-known “Nuestra Senora de Atocha” off the Marquesas. The discovery of the Spanish treasure and artifacts are eye-opening and informative. Mel Fisher’s determination in finding these elusive shipwrecks was an arduous journey that eventually became worth the risk. I recommend this book!

"Dr. Eugene Lyon's research at the Archives of the Indies in Seville Spain played a major role in the successful conclusion of a 16 year search for the Spanish gallon Atocha by Treasure Salvors, Inc." (Mel Fisher's salvage company.)
Lyon was a member of Fisher's team for many years. His account is considered by docents at the Mel Fisher Museum in Key West to be the only "authentic" version of the story "leading up to the discovery of one of the largest treasures ever found."
