A raving essay from 1969. Typical of some of the more unrelenting literati assaults on Tolkien. She calls his work "bogus", "weak prose", and "pernicious thought". To her, Tolkien is "irritatingly, blandly, traditionally masculine". I think she has a thing for Tolkien. Beside her hardened criticism, there is a moderate amount of mildly interesting analysis.
