A thorough genealogical resource explores the techniques of discovering the secrets of one's family history and locating one's ancestors, covering everything from how to identify the members of one's family tree, to using different types of historical records both at home and abroad, to explaining how to discover various genealogical resources around the world.
This is a very helpful book, which I am considering buying, except it was published in 2006. I really like the Family Group Form on page 23, and in filling it out on three ancestors it became very clear that I didn't get nearly enough information, which was right there, for the form. But I think that form is going to make a big difference in my ability to collect and organize information.
So much of this book is now obsolete due to the miraculous job volunteers and professional genealogists have done digitizing records and getting them online. However this book does a good job defining what primary records exist and what information can be found on them.
