After finding her Fiance in a compromising position, Dakota decides to move back home. Once she is settled in, she begins helping her mother by taking her little sister to and from school. There she meets Nolan, the hot single dad who’s main focus is his little girl.

Nolan is not looking for a new relationship, but he cannot deny that there is an electric spark between him and Dakota. His daughter becomes best friends with Dakota’s little sister, and before they know it, the playdates bring the two together.

This storyline was daring and emotionally rich. The connection between the two characters was refreshing, vibrant, and true to life. The spicy scenes had my jaw on the floor. I loved the banter, and how easy the storyline was to follow along.

Some chapters made me lose my breath, and others made me want to cry. I was delighted that it did have a happily ever after, but I was worried! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a Single Dad romance with an Age Gap.

Happy Release Day! This book will give you all the feels, crying, happiness, spice, and the butterflies.
This book follows Dakota who just found out her fiancé was cheating on her. So she tries to start her life again. While picking up her kid sister one day from school she meets Nolan Steele who is the father of an adorable little girl. Nolan and Dakota instantly hit it off and the chemistry is like fireworks.
Their relationship is honestly one for the books. It’s the sweetest and most heartwarming book relationship I’ve ever read. The dates he takes her on??! Like a hot air balloon ?!! Come on. And what they do on that hot air balloon ???!🫠🥵🔥. I’m obsessed with this book thank you to the author for letting me read this !

I started this book today at exactly 1:02 when I got the email that it released & I could not put it down! I literally just finished it and when I say she out did herself! I can’t get over Nolan and Dakota, the little family they create and the surprises that are included throughout, one of the best books I’ve read. It pulls you in from the beginning and keeps you there.
We love a good age gap & the spice is 10/10 🫶🏻

Preface for my fans (my 3 friends who see my reviews): DONT COME FOR ME for downloading or reading this already judged myself so u good on not doing it.

3⭐️

Let’s just say I had no choice in reading this more so bc I was procrastinating and forgot to download my books to my kindle so I was left with little to read on my vacation (a cruise where I did not buy internet so my options—LIMITED) this book is good enough. Too long imo. It’s a book where two people find each other AFTER both have issues with their cheating SO’s. the FMC is caring for her younger sister who is the same age as MMC daughter (that’s how they meet). And the FMC is a nurse but quits to bartend ( yah girl I get it I want to do the same) BUT my goodness let me tell you some situations happen and you can’t even think this girl would be a nurse (it’s irritating) like her mom has history of mental health issues but also TIA’s and she like collapses at the park and her inner monologue is like “omg what is this? Is she dizzy or another stroke” which is fine but someone ELSE suggested the hospital and she’s like omg yeah ok LIKE GIRL BE FR IF WE ARE GOING TO HAVE 400 pages of other useless shit you could’ve let her elaborate on atleast PRETENDING to be a nurse and assessing her mom. Honestly could barely get through but I do think other people would enjoy this just not for me. Especially bc I’m not into the daddy/pregnancy, HEA tropes but if you are then you will LOVE this book. Writing was not bad just not for me—AT ALL.

I’m so grateful that I was able to start Rise and Fall shortly after finishing Crash and Burn. This book gave me the butterflies, tears, and some 🌶️ . I love the characters! Nolan is a prime example of, 🤔 what did AJ say, a man that is respectful in the streets and disrespectful in the sheet 🤭 I have read a few single dad tropes and this one ranked number one on my list. The relationship between the adults and the children had me in awe. Parts in the story made me sob several times because how relatable it can be. If you like Contemporary with Spice this one is FOR YOU.

One thing. You need to read Nolan and Dakotas story. It was so heartwarming. It’s got age gap, single dad, a FMC trying to come into herself.

We met Dakota, Sterlings best friend, in Crash & Burn. She was in a relationship that was strained and became even more so when Dakota had to move home to help her mom take care of herself and her little sister, Emsley. Emsley has made a new best friend at school, Aria, who happens to have the hottest dad around.

Dakota and Nolan’s chemistry wasn’t fast or forced. It took time for them to overcome their own personal issues with relationships and supported each other along the way.

🖤Please check the trigger warnings before reading this book. Your mental health is important🖤

My thoughts:
•He braids her hair 🥹
•The gasp that I gasped at THAT part. IYKYK.
•Realistically, Aria and Em were the stars of the show here.

Absolutely loved this book. DJ and Nolan …. Wowsers! There’s so much chemistry between the two of them. It seemed the more they wanted to fight any feelings the hotter & steamier their story got.

While I really enjoyed reading their story, please be aware of the trigger warnings that come with this book before reading it. Also,it is Book #2 in the series but I was able to read it without reading Book #1 first.

Enjoy!!

I really enjoyed this story! I had the pleasure of reading her first book, Crash and Burn, as part of the Probably Smut Book Club and was super excited to see that she had opened up the applications for ARC reviews!

This is an honest review in exchange for an ARC.

I was hooked from the beginning! I think this one was more realistic and so I could relate (in some ways) to it more than Crash and Burn. Nolan is *chefs kiss* and is great MMC. He has some of his own issues, but knows that he needs to work on them.

Dakota (DJ) is a young woman, fresh out of a relationship and not looking for a new one because of her fear of heartbreak. When she meets Nolan, her kid sister's best friend's dad, everything changes.

There are plenty of plot twists and surprises in this book, and it has a great pace. Overall, I really enjoyed it!

- Age Gap
- Single Dad
- Friends to Lovers

Thank you AJ for the opportunity!!

One thing? You have to read this book.

Nolan is an incredible book boyfriend - let's start with that. I mean, I'll always swoon over the single dad. BUT HE BRAIDS HIS DAUGHTER'S HAIR. And then he braids Dakota's and her little sister's too. Ugh I passed away. At the end of the day his control and restraint and RESPECT for Dakota had me on my knees for him. A gentleman on the streets but.......... not in the sheets tbh. He had it all.

And Dakota. I absolutely loved her. I honestly saw a lot of myself in her. Always caring about everyone else and doing as much as possible for others without worrying about her own self. SEEN. FELT. I just connected with her so so strongly. She was such a vulnerable character but also had such an inner strength that I adored. Watching her learn to lean on Nolan was beautiful.

Nolan and Dakota together was incredible. Their chemistry and passion and respect for one another and their priorities in their own lives was so mature and nice to read. I loved some of the twists and turns AJ added it to give the story a little something extra! Overall, just suuuuch a good read. It has moments that are sweet, spicy, tragic, and heartwarming. All wrapped up in a sexy little bow.

Do please check TW/CW before picking up. And here's some of what to expect:
- Single dad
- Age gap
- Insta-lust/falling fast
- Praise
- Hidden truths
- Healing journeys

Thank you AJ for this arc!

Once again, AJ has claimed an entire weekend of my life and I’m not upset about it 😂 I could not set this book down.

One thing? You need to read Dakota and Nolan's story.

AJ's debut novel, Crash & Burn, was my new favorite - until Rise & Fall. I was so obsessed with Crash & Burn (and Sterling and Callan) that I didn't think anything could top that love story.

Dakota and Nolan? Fuck.

"I'll always be there to put you back together."

If you read the first book, you'll remember Dakota and Asher. But Asher is a selfish asshole and gave off really bad vibes. Fear not, my friends! Asher gets what he deserves in Rise & Fall. And so does Dakota.

Dakota is caring for her little sister and befriends single dad, Nolan. There's a bit of an age gap, but neither are bothered by it. When Dakota's mom needs medical attention at her sister's 6th birthday party (which Dakota prepped and planned), Nolan steps up. And he continues to step up again and again. And it's not long before someone falls.

This book was refreshing for a lot of reasons. Both main characters had been through the ringer with previous relationships. Both were afraid of letting love in again. One of my biggest hang-ups with romance books is when the two love interests don't communicate. (We're adults, gosh darnit. TALK IT OUT!) For the most part, Dakota and Nolan communicated pretty well - except the one time they didn't, LOL, but it didn't piss me off like other books do. This time it felt necessary to the story instead of "Bam! Drama!" for the sake of drama. And as a divorced lady with a kid who finally found my HEA and prioritizes communication, this was the perfect book.

- Single dad
- Strangers to lovers
- Praise
- Falling fast
- Age gap
- Non-traditional HEA
- Hidden truths
- Healing hearts

** Take care of yourself. Read the triggers in the beginning of the book. It's okay to pass on this one if you need to. I will say, though, this one was handled with incredible care and necessary to the story.

4.5⭐️
Oh my goodness I loved this book so much. Dakota and Nolan’s story was beautiful, emotional and healing while filled with a whole lot of chemistry, witty banter and two sweet little girls who stole the show.

You’ll find..
💚 single dad
 strangers to lovers
💚 age gap
💚 healing journey

I absolutely loved Dakota and could relate to her so much. Some of her inner dialogue and references were just so good, I giggled multiple times. And then there was Nolan… The way he switched from this sweet man and father to a dirty talking alpha in the bedroom.. OOOOFFFF 🥵 I think Sterling described him perfectly when she said “𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘴”.

Both Dakota and Nolan had pasts and experienced heartbreak and loss, and I found the progression of their relationship to be realistic despite the insta lust between them and the fast paced chemistry they shared. They unknowingly helped each other heal to be able to open themselves to the possibility of love again. I loved how upfront and honest with each other they were, their open communication was refreshing. The sweet moments with Aria and Emsley added a lightness to the story I really enjoyed.

Their journey however wasn’t easy and there were some heavy and emotional scenes as well as a couple of twists which had me all up in the feels. I was so invested in their HEA and there were tears shed. I found these were handled really well and dragged me right in.
Please check the triggers before reading 🖤

This book was incredible! I felt such a deep connection to this story, the characters, and the trials they had to face. There definitely were some laughs and tears while reading!

I am an absolute sucker for a single dad and Nolan did not disappoint! There is something so special reading about a father and his little girl! Not to mention, he knew how to braid hair?! I melted! It was heartwarming to see how attentive and sweet he was with Dakota, knowing that she didn’t always put herself first. Daddy Nolan was top tier!

Dakota was such a strong and resilient FMC. She had been through so much and continued to make everyone around her happy, most times putting their happiness before her own. It was so nice to see her begin to own her feelings and start to fight for what she wanted out of life, especially when it came to her relationship with Nolan.

These two characters were amazing together. Even though there was an age gap, it didn't cause issues in their relationship, and it felt so mature and right. Seeing them navigate their relationship in such a healthy way, even after all they went through in past relationships, was so refreshing to read. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this book and highly recommend!

Huge shoutout to AJ for letting me have the opportunity to read this ARC!! You are amazing!

READ TRIGGER WARNINGS FIRST!!

I have to preface by saying that I absolutely love AJ Nicole’s books and this one does not disappoint. I couldn’t put this ARC down. The book focuses on Dakota and her budding relationship with Nolan, the ultimate girl dad. Their connection didn’t feel forced and the book didn’t feel rushed at all. This book has the perfect amount of spice and relationship/ plot development, it doesn’t feel like you’re just reading smut the entire time.

There are some trigger warnings which are stated at the beginning of the book so please read over those first before reading to avoid any triggers.

I laughed and cried through the whole book. Dakota might be one of the most relatable characters that I’ve ever read. I cannot wait for more of AJ’s work!

This book was spicy 🌶️ like very spicy I was eating it all up !
Nolan is such a sweet amazing MAN/ FATHER never once was I over the characters in the book
Dakota had so much weight on her shoulders worrying for everyone else and then having someone to worry for her was great. I’m so happy they found happiness with each other.
I didn’t want the book to end but the ending was wholesome and beautiful.

this book was so heartwarming but also heartbreaking. Nolan and Dakota are made for each other! Dakota is so kind hearted, strong and sassy, I love her character. She knows just what buttons to push with Nolan to get him all kinds of worked up, in a good way of course. The banter between the two of them is funny and spicy. “Old Man” Nolan has a hidden dom personality that Dakota is all for, she pokes and he has the best responses 🥵. He’s such a good dad to his young daughter , Aria. He seems like one of those guys that would be too good to be true but he’s genuine. Nolan needed Dakota just as much as Dakota needed Nolan. I absolutely love their dynamic! Oh and the spice..it be spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!!!

Once again, AJ has me seriously reconsidering my opinions on contemporary romance. Maybe I was just waiting for someone to write them the way she writes them. Which is hot as hell. Some may find this one triggering but I enjoyed it from start to finish. Bad/tough things happen in real life so it’s hard to read sometimes but refreshingly real and relatable too.

Nolan is the dream. He is a great dad, he’s caring and masculine and passionate (phew, is there passion). AJ writes perfectly real and relatable FMC’s who you want to root for and Dakota is on a growing list of lovable female leads.

This was an easy 5 star review. Can’t wait to see what AJ brings us next.

I am new to AJ Nicole, and this book did not disappoint. I was lucky enough to get an ARC to review and will be reading more by AJ in the future. There’s spice, tears, and some triggers so be sure to read the synopsis before deciding if it is for you. If given the chance, I think you will love Nolan and Dakota’s story. Nolan’s a single dad and Dakota is in a strained relationship when she goes home to take care of her mom and little sister. Each has personal issues to overcome and through that what it takes to come together.

I rated this a 4 due to the trigger warnings.

This is book #2 out of the Pain and Pleasure series. You can absolutely read Rise & Fall as a standalone. Dakota and Nolan’s story is a must read. This book was absolutely incredible. All I’ve gotta say is Chapter 10👀 AJ is the best and I can’t wait to read more amazing books from her!!!

“One thing”, I like my spicy romances on the dark side. This was NOT that! This has me smiling like a fool, swooning, turned on, and so full of heartache. I could feel all of these emotions. I really thought this was going to be a “cute” romance, and it was… but also so much more! That is not to say there are no trigger warnings, because there are. I throughly enjoyed this book, it was everything I didn’t know I needed.

where do I even begin....
This was nostalgic, sweet, spicy, devastating, heart breaking, moving and so so much more.
I cried way too many times through this book. I should have known with Crash & Burn this would be just as devastating. BUT there's always a rainbow at the end of the storm, or always a reason to "rise again". I absolutely loved the Callan and Sterling cameos. Nolan... Nolan, Nolan, Nolan. The ultimate book daddy. I get shivers just thinking about him. Dakota is phenomenal. She is my favorite female MC in any book ever. She felt so authentically written and I can go on and on about their dynamic. There's so many scenes I want to tell you about but it would be better if you read them and experienced all the feels for yourself, so I won't.

I loved all the coincidental little references to things I absolutely love. It made this read just that much more special and felt like AJ ripped pages out of my very own diary and spilled my heart out on those pages.

AJ, wow. You nailed it. Again. If you write it, I will be reading it. Forever and ever. Please never stop writing. I would let you put me through 1000000 stories like this. Break my heart and put me back together you cliterature queen. Thank you forever for letting me be a part of your ARC team. This was truly a book I will never forget and having the privilege of getting to read this early was one I will also never forget.

dakota young spent life chasing a dream that she no longer wants. after she caught her fiancé cheating on her, she’s wary of love and all the heartbreak that comes with it. she’s returned to her hometown to help care for her mother and younger sister, and everything is going fine for her. nolan steele is recently divorced from his wife and isn’t interested in starting a new relationship. his life is caring for his daughter and running his construction company. when a chance meeting in the kindergarten drop off line brings the two together, they can’t seem to stop thinking of each other. they start up a physical relationship, but what’s physical soon turns to more. can they face the potential heartbreak, or will they pasts cloud their futures?

rise & fall is a phenomenal follow up to c&b, aj nicole’s debut!! i was so glad to get my hands on an e-arc. dakota’s strong and sassy personality made her so lovable and relatable. of course, i can’t forget to mention nolan the single dad, blue collar man of my dreams. i really enjoyed the push and pull of their relationship, as well as how they overcame their pasts to be with each other. and like c&b aj did a fantastic job with the spicy scenes (dakota wanting to be controlled… we love to see it)!! i can’t wait for future books by aj nicole and love being able to support an up and coming indie author.

Dakota our FMC is a 23 year old who recently found out her fiancé cheated on her after she moved home to take off her sick mom and take care of her baby sister. Dakota has great character development as she faces her past, major Life changes, a new love interest, and Major Life complications.

Nolan our MMC is a 35 year old newly divorced single dad learning to navigate life Post divorce, He runs his own construction company which takes most of his free time when he doesn't have his daughter. Nolan has great development as he learns to trust and love again after the trauma of his past.

This story kept me engaged and on the hook the whole time! Ups and downs, twists and turns, and one heck of a bomb dropped!

I’m hoping, praying & begging AJ to write another in this series. I loved seeing the bits & pieces we get to see of Sterling & Callan again!

This was my very first AJ Nicole book and NOLAN did not dissapoint! This story reminded me of like a spicy Hallmark film. It gave me all the feels and overall was a very enjoyable read!

Nolan is a single Dad who has had less than bad luck in his love life. His daughter Aria is his whole world and that dynamic was just so sweet. But what I love most is AJ Nicole recognizes that parents are people too! She gives Nolan desires, wants, goals, future aspirations and it was refreshing.

Dakota on the other hand also comes from some crap luck in the love department and we got to embark on a woman's journey to loving herself again and letting someone other than her Mom and Adroable sister Emsey in. We see her take some of her power back and reading that was just 👏👏👏👏👏 you get it girl!

***Bonus: The Dynamic of the two girls was just amazing! I loved getting to be so involved with all the characters in this little gem.

Thank you AJ for sharing this lovely work with me and I can't wait for everyone else to read this so I can discuss it with others!
