Whether you are travelling first class or on a limited budget, this Eyewitness Top 10 guide will lead you straight to the very best Dubai and Abu Dhabi have to offer.
Dozens of Top 10 lists - from where to find the bargains in souks and malls, to the best natural beauty spots, spas and golf courses - provide the insider knowledge every visitor needs. And to save you time and money, there's even a list of the Top 10 Things to Avoid.
I had the 2008 edition but I still found this book really useful to help me focus on what I should prioritise while visiting Dubai on a short trip. Its a really slim volume that fits easily into a travel handbag and the pull out maps are great. Keep in mind that this isn't the book for you if you want detailed history of the area or of various sights etc.
Useful for getting an overview of things to do, but not enough depth or detail to make informed decisions. Okay if you like doing 'top-10' things or if you have another, more-detailed, guide and want to use this as a cheat sheet.
Really poor book in my opinion. Having spent a week in the city I can honestly say I took nothing of value from this book. It really needs to detail the essentials and stress that the locals will take you for every penny if you are not careful. In hind sight it would have been great to know things like the going rate for 100g of spice, Abra rates for travelling down the creek (I got into serious trouble with a legitimate Abra dropping me off on a private mooring), how to use the Metro effectively, taxi rates and how to get the best fares, how to reduce costs (entertainer vouchers, groupon etc). Wasted my money on this book too!
I love the Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides and this lives up to their reputation for good information in a concise format. This will travel with me when I head to Dubai in a few months.
