This is probably the most commonly-used Russian-English dictionary at the University level. I've seen it in many friends' houses, as well as using it for my own Russian class. I can still sound out Russian words, although I never really learned to speak Russian. It's interesting to note how many Russian words seem to be borrowed from French, German, and English. One thing that surprised me about this dictionary is the very sparse front matter. Oxford devotes little space to telling you how to use its dictionary; it just jumps in and starts throwing out the definitions.
