I hadn't read the books till I heard about the movies, I was too focused on Divergent or regular school life. Turns out I came to love James style of writing and I read through the series rather quickly finding that is where my extra money of the week went till I was caught up. It had different turns in every book, new plot that you didn't see coming, his descriptions were on point for me to see where I was going without thinking back to the movies. Though who doesn't want to think of Dylan O'Brian lol.

In James Dashner's "The Scorch Trials", the heart-pounding sequel to "The Maze Runner", Thomas and the remaining Gladers are thrust into a deadly wasteland known as the Scorch.
The Earth has been ravaged by sun flares and a disease known as the Flare, driving people to murderous insanity and transforming them into "Cranks," a type of zombie-like creature.
The boys are promised a cure for the Flare if they can traverse the treacherous Scorch and reach a safe haven within two weeks. Their journey is fraught with challenges, including blinding lightning storms, dangerous Cranks, and the ever-present threat of betrayal.
Thomas struggles with fragmented memories of his past involvement with WICKED, the organization behind their trials. He grapples with trust, particularly after Teresa seemingly betrays him. The story explores themes of survival, loyalty, and the pursuit of truth in a world where nothing is as it appears.
While some aspects of the plot may seem to drag at times and characters like Minho and Newt receive less development, the book's strengths lie in its thrilling action sequences, the palpable sense of urgency, and the constant suspense that keeps readers hooked. The novel also introduces intriguing new characters like Brenda and Aris, adding layers to the mystery surrounding WICKED and the purpose of the trials.

Not my favorite book in the series, but overall, the progressive world-building in this series is just GENIUS!!! The introduction of cranks and the Flare is so crucial to the plot and James Dashner does it soooooo well. Definitely read Maze Runner first, but this is definitely. one of my favorite series of all time.

Its such a good book. I got really hooked. its about a boy named Thomas and his friends trying to cross the scorch, a really hot area.
