First 100 Big Board: Trucks and Things That Go

Rate this book
Roger Priddy's First 100 Trucks and Things That Go is a large board book for young children, full of 100 photographs of all kinds of vehicles.

Each colorful photograph is accompanied by the word, and the book is separated into themes―rescue vehicles, construction vehicles, on the farm, on the road, on the water, cars, and flying machines. This is a great way to build vocabulary for little ones fascinated by trucks, cars, diggers, tractors, and other things that go.

Long car rides fly by when I am reading this book! I really enjoyed the First 100 Words book but it was a bit light on the trucks and other vehicles so I was very excited when I found out there was another version. While I can’t confirm that there really are 100 pictures (I’m only 11 months, cut me some slack), this book continues to be a real page turner. Some of the pictures are a bit out dated (wouldn’t hurt to add a couple of Boeing products) but I’m a generous guy so I’ll stick with a 5 star review - JTL

PS - sometimes I read it upside down and I can hardly tell the difference

Just pictures of machines and their names. Just what I was looking for. :)

I can’t stand that this “first 100 …” series has so many duplicate items within each book. Dump truck is listed on at least two different page categories, as are many other trucks or pieces of machinery. I think it’s this book that also has a “family car” labeled on a picture of a Mercedes Benz. lol. Told my son that’s not realistic! Gave it 1 star from me because I’m nitpicky and it’s not THAT hard to do better. The second star is because my son unfortunately loves the book (probably because I hate it) and likes to flip through it many times a day while pointing to things so I tell him what it is. There are worse kids books, but there are also many better ones.

My 1 year old loves this book. He loves to look at the pictures and say or sign them as well as make their sound. He especially loves to find the pictures on the front of the book and match them up with the ones inside the book. I don't particularly love this book, but he does so that counts for a lot.

The book is nice and heavy duty so it lasts The size is fun at times but obnoxious at other times. Little hands can't hold and turn the pages of the book by themselves and it is even hard for an adult to have a child on her lap and read this large book.

My toddler absolutely love this sticker book. This book encourages little ones to learn about all sorts of trucks and vehicles in a fun and interactive way. Not to mention that 500 stickers are also included in this book.

This is an enjoyable exploration of many different kinds of trucks. However, I do not consider a bicycle or a hot air balloon a “truck.”
