This non-fiction book is an excellent resource for teachers and parents. It provides an introduction to several Mexican festivals including: El Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe, Christmas, Psada, Carnival, Quinceanera, Corpus Christi, Independence Day (not Cinco de Mayo as many Americans believe), and El Dia de Los Muertos.
The history of each event is discussed as well as recipes, folktales and legends, and ideas for crafts. The book is well researched and easily accessible.
The corresponding pictures are colorful and done in different Mexican traditions.
