Before I have a moan let me tell you about the story. (You can skip this part if you want)

Dean is a 35 year old lawyer and a player of note. He is a total chick magnet and never gets turned down, until he meets Evy and she is perfect, the one for him and he won’t take no for an answer.

Evy has moved to a new city with her sister and brother- in-law after her 12 year relationship ends in betrayal. She is focussed on the family business and knows a player when she sees one, but the attraction is undeniable and too soon she succumbs to the practised wily charms of mister tall dark and handsome.

Little do they know that Deans past will come back to haunt them both and test the strength of their relationship to breaking point.

When picking up this book I decided I was going to stick with it no matter what. After two weeks of discarding book after book at the first annoyance, I realised I was never going to find anything to read if I carried on like that. So this was it, a little sexy contemporary romance which hinted at a little drama and angst. Perfect!

(hidden for effect)

What we have here is an insta- love attraction which holds no merit. The main protagonists lack character development and the prose is littered with clichéd eye rolling similes with a couple crackers that made my toes curl.

Her hair is a chocolate waterfall and ‘the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life’ He is like a Greek god.
They stare at each other with star-crossed eyes <-- what does that actually mean? Because this is the image I get ...
 photo 4364.gif

Their hearts swelling with something neither of them can explain Together they quiver with unbridled desire, chests heaving - communicating in a language more reserved for the wild. Cue: mental image of chattering monkeys.

Honestly the interaction with these two is just nauseating. Needless to say I was too busy cringing at the use of overly flamboyant adjectives to fully appreciate the relationship and chemistry between the two. I felt like I was trapped in a really bad Mills and Boons.

"...his erection searching for a way out of his jeans like a whale trapped beneath a sheet of ice."

 photo cheryl_cole_okay_zps81418488.gif

The saving grace (kind of) is the side characters and humour. Dean’s mates are seriously chauvinistic but you can’t help laughing at the banter.
I found Evy’s sister to be highly annoying in her pursuit of info regarding Evy’s sexual exploits with Dean.
Her brother-in-law was hysterical.

When the drama comes there is a surprisingly different twist in the direction you think it will take. At this point if the writing wasn't so bad this might have has an extra star. I always like a twist. I can see the appeal, and about five years ago I might have liked it too.
Be warned though, this is book 1 of 2, so the cliff-hanger is inevitable, and no I won't be reading the next installment.

2 Stars, cause it was bearable...just.

Bloody hell. I couldn't finish it. I couldn't. It's awful.

So I'm all for a bit of romance/action in a book where it has a FUCKING POINT. But seriously, this book is just ridiculous. It's NOT sexy if people are only ever talking about the size of a guy etc. Overkill, seriously. WHO TALKS LIKE THAT ALL THE FREAKING TIME?

THEN there is the attitude to women in the book. The opening scene is the main male character getting it on with a side character. Fine, but NO it's done to try and paint her as a slut (Of course she is blonde with 'big tits', OF COURSE she is). Aside from the fact I HATE the whole she is a slut thing at any time, there is purpose to this and it fucking stinks.

The main female character of course was with her childhood sweetheart for YEARS and was cheated on so at least she is innocent enough for the slut-man.

They get together, they are soulmates blah blah. Cue bombshell that isn't a bombshell. Main female dumps him. I got no further.

it's the language in this book. I hated it. If you must read it you will see what I mean. I don't write scathing reviews often but this book pissed me off. Glad I only paid 49p for it.

I don't think I've ever read a 'romance' where the hero spends the majority of the book with the 'other woman'.
In this installment book 1, (which ends on a cliffhanger) and then in book 2 as well.
S
P
O
I
E
R
S
Through both erotica installments (there's no romance in either) he has sex with the ow (many detailed sex scenes, which in a romance would normally take place between the H and h)), marries the ow, goes on honeymoon with his new bride, plays possible father-to-be to his wife's unborn baby. Is being blackmailed. Spends most of the book fighting to get away from his batshit crazy wife's creepy advances and apologizing to the heroine for all the chaos.

Maybe its meant to be a thriller or suspense read.
There's certainly no healthy awareness of AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases.
The hero is weak, definitely not an alpha.
The heroine is TSTL as she waits for him.
Not much one-on-one-together time with the H and heroine.
One of the oddest story lines I've read.

This book was GREAT!!! I can't believe Deans luck! I was hurting for him. Everything is finally in front of him that he wants and BAM!! One night comes back to bite him and its biting him hard!! I love Evy too. They fit so good together, they were not together long enough to really enjoy their relationship before things went south. Ben kept me rolling; everyone needs that inappropriate in-law to give comedic relief. I can't wait to see how this all works out!!

Would I recommend this book? Already did!!
Would I read it again? Yes

After ending her 12 year relationship, Evy Burnett is on a mission to start fresh in Milwaukee. She along with her sister Brooke and Brooke’s husband Ben, have opened a dessert bar called Sugar. All Evy wants to do is focus on the bar. The last thing she ever expected was Dean Jacobs to throw himself into her life. She knows a player when she see one but when all of her attempts to shoot him down fail, she gives in to fate and goes along for the ride.

“He is a player, Brooke. You should’ve seen the girls falling over him last night; I bet he’s slept with half of the women in this town.”

Dean Jacobs is a successful lawyer who happens to be one of Milwaukee’s most eligible bachelors. He is also one of Milwaukee’s biggest players. He goes through women like they are going out of style and his recent conquest Megan, has become a stage five clinger. He has no intentions of settling down. One day he spots Evy at a cafe. He is utterly shocked when his attempts are shot down, no one ever shoots him down and now he is intrigued. He is finally able to get her to go out with him.

When those green eyes fell upon him, everything else faded down a long tunnel that stretched for miles. His blood pounded thickly in his temples, driving the music from his ears and replacing it with a pulsating thud. He crossed the black and white checkered floor on rubbery legs. It was all he could do to keep from tripping over his own two feet. He tried to focus but Evy’s hair spilled over her shoulders like chocolate waterfalls and the need to run his fingers through it consumed him.

After sharing an explosively, heart shocking and eye opening kiss- Dean’s feeling begin to change, destiney has brought Evy into his life for a reason and he sees nothing but her and wants no one but her. Evy has not only opened his eyes but has awakened his heart.

Things are going well for Dean and Evy, they are happy and they are head over heels in love with each other. Then in a blink of an eye their Fate is interrupted by Dean’s past. Things seem to go from bad to worse. Evy and his friends are targeted by a political power hungry man. Dean is given an ultimatum. He needs to decide to either “go along with the program” to protect the ones he loves – which also means losing Evy or he will have to watch their lives be destroyed. Dean knows he is the reason for Evy’s suffering and will stop at nothing to make it right.

“Just know that I love you more than anything in the world and we will be together very soon. I promise you that.”

Kaitlyn Cross wrote such a wonderful story that will warm and crush your heart at the same time. She created such fantastic characters that are so easy to love and to hate.

Kaitlyn leaves us with a nail biting cliffhanger.

This story is about losing and finding faith, learning to trust and love again and of course to believe in fate…….

We can’t wait for Fate Interrupted 2 coming soon!

I loved this little diamond in the rough! It was a great read! It had me LOL! Sexual tension, yummy food, alcohol, crazy ex's & a mafia element (what more could ya want, right?) THE NEXT INSTALLMENT!! I want to know what will happen. It was kind of cheesy how the H/h find love @ first site but for anyone who has ever experienced it(like little ol' me -hehe..) YOU DO FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE A FEVER (it's weird but awesome!) Soooo, I didn't find it to be OTT. Great job Kaitlyn! Can't wait for more. ;)

I have mixed emotions in truth about this book, I absolutely loved, loved, loved certain bits about it. I mean come on I spat my coffee everywhere when the Smurf's got mentioned, that was so bloody hilarious! I loved the connection between Dean and Evy, but this is one part where I get the mixed emotions. I lost a smidgeon of interest at the point where his past comes back to haunt him and I thought 'oh boy this is so cliche' and the buzz of the book had dissapated a bit. But then it turned up the heat again a little while later at the trap being laid and what he was caught up in and how they were going to cope and overcome it.

The one thing I really HATED about this book is the use of the word 'cum' for a such a good story the use of this word seemed to demean the story to porno mag lingo and ere towards sleeze rather than an excellent contemporary romance that it could attain to be. There are some extremely hot, steamy erotic romance books and trilogies out there at the moment and most of them have kept it upmarket and not used slang, I so wished that Kaitlyn hadn't used it.

Saying that though this book is indeed hot and sexy, I don't know about the first sex scene though, I thought a paper bag was needed and laughed hard when the ski mask was mentioned.

So sadly I have knocked a star off the slang, but it certainly won't detract me from reading book 2, I am really looking forward to hitting that next.

I love this book! I have been on a downward slope of book that fulfill me on many levels. It's been too long since I read a book that I giggled, fanned myself and highlighted so much in one sitting! Not that those actions make the perfect book, but a fast moving, hawt, mature story with twists, turns and bumps in the road NOT put there by juvenile misunderstandings make it perfect!

Let's cover the fact that Dean the manwhore is not just falling head over heels, but he's really being selfless. Evy is taking a chance and Brooke and Dean's friends (Jon and Shaun - no joke) are a mother freakig RIOT!

If this is a debut novel, I am a an official lifetime fan of Kaitlyn Cross because this book was awesome. It's going on my "to read again and again" list and it's a top 5 for sure.

Oh, the fact that this book was $.99 is like winning the lottery!

Meet Dean, he is a beef cake womanizing hottie w/the gift Of lewer! Whose parents died in a car accident when he was 19 and who is slightly misunderstood b/c Of His high demanded attention. Who enters The story rocking time with a foul mouth Blond with a rack-Megan-(ugh! Shutter, think Barbie Q P doll who has money cause Of daddy dearest, swears she is classy until she opens her mouth. BAH!!! nails to chalk Board people, nails to chalk Board!!). Dean's getting his but is boggled by The speciman beneath him, a monai ( At least to me by personality). Girls got ISSUES!! Train wreck waiting to happen And All that **SMH**

Then meet Evy, a green eyed, petite, brunette beauty who has just moved to Milwuakee w/sister And brother In Law having opened a dessert bar called sugars. Who has a nursed heart for The last Year because Of a douche bag ex!

Dean encounters Evy At Panera's one hot afternoon when he meets Up with His pal Shaun, who lives vicariously through Jon And Dean. Dean's magic works on many women effortlessly but Evy makes.the Man become a mumbling, stumbling, fool. Dean makes His move to get to know Evy but before he is done he has spilled his gatorade a ladies fruit punch (And managed to escape unscathed by The drinks-mindboggling yes). All In vain since Evy turns him down. All The while Dean is traumatized over is sexcapade with Megan The night before. Having had recounted it to Shaun, prior to making His move with Evy. Dude.was a jumpy nervous wreck when seeing a blond-Ha!!..fastforward...

Dean's At The gym, not even 5mins, gals already on him about His number And calls. Dean does a Rep And, bam; who does he see through The mirror??? No other than Evy. After a quaint chat And some slight exchanged Info And another shot down..fastforward some more And Evy is At Sugars working And sharing some Info about Dean to sister dearest Brooke...( The girl is crass And funny as All get out. Sticks her foot In her mouth All .THE.TIME!! HELL-ARIOUS!!! Gasp cant breathe funny) Who walks in...of.course Dean And Jon. Brooke practically pushes her sister out The door And into Deans arms And suggests Evy be home by 12noon! Yup you got it ;-) Evy Of course a stuttering but speachless nancy who is fighting And failing to stay away From a relationship...The chemistry between Dean And Evy has The makings Of an explosive bomb, just ticking away, And no matter The detination is inevitable! Just as their passion is as powerful, so are their foes to come. A reckoning is coming And only time can tell if their love can with stand The shrapnel And aftermath!

This story was amazing. I felt The anger, frustration, urgency, And impotence that Dean felt. How flabbergasted he became And how much he wanted to.regain control. The hopelessness thats seeping through was palpable! I wanted to throttle Clay And oh how funny Shaun And Carrie are, great Friends Of Dean. I cant wait to see what happens next. I am starting on The next book right away. I cant stand Megan And her father Clay. I want to slap Dean upside His.head for His stupidity, but I want to push Megan Off a cliff into shark infested waters, cause I can feel In My bones she is trieffelling!!

I loved this book and can't wait for the next one. I couldn't give this book 5 stars because i felt that the book wasn't a standalone book and am once again disappointed with this trend not to complete a story in one book. As soon as I finished reading I searched for the next one, with the aim to read it straight away as though reading one book but its not yet available. The problem with this way of publishing stories in parts is that it loses my interest. Shortly I will be picking up my kindle again to read another book and no doubt will end up reading another serialised book, by the time i get round to reading the second part of this I will have forgotten the details of this story and no doubt also have confused it with another. That off my chest now, I liked the characters of Dean and Evy very much and routed for the happily ever after from the start. The supporting characters of Brooke, Ben, Shaun and Jon were entertaining too, although the dentist quips kept making me think of the film the hangover. Meghan is a very annoying character and frankly crazy - surely she was aware what her father was up to? or was she really that desperate or that much of an airhead? Why would that be good enough for anyone?

Dean is a player and good looking and can have any woman he wants. But he wants Evy, the new girl in town.
The story has some funny banter between Brooke and Evy. Also, between the guys that Dean hangs out with.
Dean hangs out with Jon who is single and another guy that is married. The married guy gives Dean excellent advice. While Jon, the single guy only cares about screwing more women.
I like the age category for this story. I like the dating process and how Dean continues to go out of his way to see Evy.
Evy works in a bakery and Dean is a lawyer. Dean is in his thirties and is still single.

Fate interrupted when Evy's ex-fiancé cheated on her a year ago, fate interrupted when Dean met Evy at Panera and then again at the gym, fate interrupted when Dean found out he got another woman pregnant, fate interrupted when Clay told Dean he had to marry his daughter.
Clay is a piece of work. Clay wants Dean to do right by his daughter or he is going to ruin everyone he knows. He already threatened Evy and Shean. Clay is blackmailing Dean and yet Dean does not even know if he is the father of Megan's baby or if she is even pregnant.

The writing is amazing. The story flows. It's fast pace and entertaining. I love it. I'm glad I found this story.

I borrowed this book and while it has some funny moments, I can't truly recommend it because the positives are outstripped by the negatives.

The premise is fairly standard, complete with outrageous and bats!tcrazy villains who really have little dimension to them other than to create angst for the H/h. I would have liked to see more of the development of the relationship between the H/h. At one point in the story it picks up several weeks later, and their "love" is practically fully formed off the page, which left me cold and not quite understanding why these two supposedly love each other. The secondary characters are also fairly standard, with little to pull me in. There were a few good scenes, but the humor is mostly crude (and I am far from a prude) and not that funny to me.

The biggest weakness is the cliffhanger - it feels more like a money grab that any need to prolong the story. I did get the second book in the series just to know how it ends, but overall I wasn't that satisfied.

Like many self published books, there was some promise, but also a desperate need for an editor to really pull this story together into one decent book instead of two weak ones.

FROM A FUNNY BEGINNING TO INTENSIFYING CLIFFHANGER!, January 29, 2013

Amazon Verified Purchase
This review is from: Fate Interrupted (Book 1 of 2) (Kindle Edition)

I couldn't believe it! From laughing so hard to almost a quarter of the book, to a hot sweet romance then wham! hits you like a tornado! it changed pace dramatically, am afraid for everyone who has a connection to Dean lest they meet a misfortune; afraid for Evy, the woman he loves and her family. One moment everything was lighthearted and funny, next he's caught in a crossfire that had Dean scrambling to find a way to get out of...then to being threatened and browbeaten if he doesn't propose to the girl of his nightmare, Megan...then the tense and desperate phone call of Evy to Dean...the cliffhanger will make you hold your breath!! PLEASE release the next book! now! Have pity on us! especially the other Amazon reviewer who may not have enough hair left on her head from pulling it, being caught in this intensifying saga! while the rest of us in pins and needles! Thank you Ms.Cross for a great debut novel, you're awesome! Well Done!!

wasn't Shakespeare but rarely do you get that for 99 cents. though what it lacked in polished language, it sort of made up for in plot. my guess is that the more this author writes, the smoother her books will become in terms of grammar and flow. if there was any real irritation, it was in the fact that there was no real need for this book to be in two parts. i know that everyone seems to be doing it this way lately, but there is a huge difference between a cliff-hanger and an unresolved plot. books, no matter if they are standalone or part of a series, need a beginning, middle and end. this book ended in the middle which makes me think that it's more about getting to charge me for the next book than it is about telling the story - which quite frankly would have been a good one if not for this. personally, i would have preferred to pay $7.99 upfront....but that's just me.

this is the second time I've read the book and it is still as good the second time. really enjoyed this book. a different story with a twist in the story. the connection between the two main characters is fantastic as well as the supporting characters, making this book romantic and funny. this book has some very hot steamy bits to it but they are not over done. a fantastic page turner and easy book to read. the story is fast paced moving from romantic and funny to misfortune very quickly. have the second book waiting as you will need to start it straight away. highly recommended.

Meh. This didn't really thrill me. I thought some parts were flat out hilarious (really, really hilarious), but there wasn't enough depth to the characters to give me more than a few laughs. The relationship wasn't delved into enough for me to care about seeing how it all turns out in the second book. I wasn't thrilled with the way things ended here, either. I know there's a second book, but come on! The writing style was a little odd in my opinion. It would bounce between smooth and awkwardly disjointed. I wish it would have been smoother over all.

I rate this book 2.5 stars, it was an OK read. Is this a debut book? There were certain things that made me thing it is e.g. In the beginning when Evy is at the club with Dean and Jon - the POV is Evy's and she didn't notice the look exchanged between Jon and Dean. You can't NOT notice something when you are in that character's head!!!

I hated the use of cum, honestly even erotica shouldn't use it. It is not sexy. Ever. I found Dean to be a complete dick in the beginning, and his character development from revolting man-whore to committed boyfriend was so rushed, I still didn't really like him at the end either. *sigh*

I will read book two to see their HEA though because I hate an unfinished story

Hmm......well this book turned out to be not exactly what I was expecting. It was good though. I guess I thought it was going to be more of a romance. It is in a way but it also has a suspense-ish element to it too.

I thought Evy and Dean had a bit too much insta-love. And a few of the lines were a bit cheesy. But overall I found the story to be quite enjoyable and I laughed out loud several times. Brooke was a riot.

This book did have a bit of a cliffhanger ending and based on all of the excitement at the end of the book I'm definitely curious to see how this one is going to end.

I'd definitely recommend and you can't be the price--$.99!!!

This book captured my interest from the first page - the opening was great. It even had me laugh out loud during the first part of the book and this was driven from characters and action - a brilliant start! At one point the story skipped forward 6 weeks and I really would have liked to read about their trials and tribulations during this time. I think it would have helped me warm to the characters more which is really the extra thing I needed from this story. I am really glad I read it because it was a great story and the characters are well written. I will definitely read the next book as I want to know what happens with Dean and Evy. x

i had really high hopes for this book from reading the description...but as I went through the pages (a very quick read by the way). I found myself wanting to skip through the pages to hurry up and finish. I was not disappointed when the book was finished...far from it. In fact I won't be adding Book 2 in the series to my list of "to read" books.

Overall the premise of the story is like many others...bad "player" man....heartbroken "near chaste" woman...enter freaky strong love at first sight attraction....re-enter prior one night stand with a "oppps" situation and so on and on. It just wasn't all that interesting to me at all. Enter this book at risk of your own boredom.

I was really liking this up until the game changer...
Then I just wanted to scream and throw my kindle!

I really enjoyed the secondary characters
I loved her sister Brooke, seriously funniest lines ever omg so funny!

~"He likes you, Evy," Brooke moaned.
"The least you could do is let him eat you out."~

~"Then I want you to whip out his giant cock and fuck him ten way to sunday until you've gained fifteen pounds from his salty semen!"~

Will definitely read the next one, need Evy and Dean to get their happy ending!

Disappointed:( 3 stars is being generous. I have been fortunate to have selected so many amazing romances that my expectations may just be too high. I did not connect with the characters at all. Maybe the beginning just tainted my mood. If you are not excited fu..ing the crazy bitch you picked up, pull out and be done. I just didn't care to finish this journey. I admit that I did skim the pages to the conclusion just to see the obvious cliffhanger. Really? There is no way a man-whore who has avoided this “type” of situation would be in this situation. I will not be buying book 2.

From the get go I was trapped... the story took on a life of itself and evolved beautifully, I was captured by every word and felt a multitude of emotions almost like I knew the characters personally and was feeling their emotions... that's how strong the words jumped off the page... Definitely recommend other reader's to read this & add it to their TBR list.... Desperately looking forward to book 2....

This book is the first to make me think I should wait for an entire series to be released before I read the first. I cannot wait for the 2nd book! GRRRRR

Dean is a hottie (for lack of a better term - man whore) who finds a beautiful girl, Evy and is motivated to change his dog-like ways. His history comes back to bite him in his delish derierre which causes lots of strife for both Dean and his beloved Evy. Evy's sister and brother-in-law are a hoot!

Una sorpresa...Muy buen libro!!!

Wao no puedo creer cuanto me gustó este libro... Totalmente impredecible. No es un libro lleno de los típicos malentendidos que yo tanto odio, sino de consecuencias cuando uno no mide las acciones de sus actos. No puedo esperar por la segunda parte...la necesito YA!!!
