Jennifer Lewis is the USA Today bestselling author of more than thirty books, which have been translated into more than twenty languages.
"I’ve been making up stories since the day I was born. I always loved to draw as well as write and as a child I drew graphic novellas featuring penniless but plucky Cinderella heroines. My love of daydreaming earned me the nickname “Dozy Duck” in Kindergarten, and I still consider staring into space to be a constructive activity.
I was born in Manhattan but my family moved to London when I was six months old, toting me along in a cat basket. I grew up as a Brit and traveled extensively in Europe during my only-slightly-misspent formative years.
I came back to the States to earn a bachelor’s degree in Semiotics from Brown University and begin a journey into the world of trans-Atlantic accents that I have still not fully emerged from. On graduation I returned to New York, where I learned to explain Semiotics on job interviews (“It’s the study of signs and systems of meaning!”) and to apply my knowledge in a very enjoyable career at a television museum.
While organizing exhibits on subjects ranging from Elvis Presley to Monty Python, I began to experiment with writing my own stories. It was quite a revelation to discover that the tales I’d been dreaming up forever could actually be turned into books. After a couple of detours--my son and my daughter--I focused all my creative energy on writing and my first book came out from Silhouette Desire in 2007.
I live in South Florida with my family, which includes an adorable greyhound and four horses.
Outro livro tirado dos anos 90, com cavalos numa herdade e um amor do passado a florescer depois de uma herança complicada determinar a aproximação dos protagonistas
Anna comes back to where she grew up, on the De Leon estate, after her mother's death and learns that she's inherited the cottage and land, which were bequeathed to her mother, right in the middle of the estate. The heir to the De Leon estate, Naldo, is none too pleased to have his inheritance passed to him with a whole in it. He wants the cottage and the family heirloom jewels that were also gifted to Anna's mother by his father, who apparently loved her. Anna is broke and needs the money that Naldo keeps trying to throw at her to get her to sell and go away, but something keeps holding her back from taking it...suspicion, nostalgia or love for Naldo.
This was just okay. I'm not sure I liked Naldo very much, since he really did seem to have the attitude that he could order people around and get what he wanted. Anna didn't really make much sense - perhaps I could have understand her decision to not take the money better if she had a clearer idea of why she wasn't doing it. The ending was a bit over the top. Even more so believing that Naldo would so easily forgive that - or perhaps not, but in light of the fact that the reader I had no insight into Naldo's feelings and was frankly really suspicious of him even up to the point that he was asking Anna to stay and be his girlfriend, it didn't feel quite right. I felt like, to really believe the ending, I needed to get a bit more of Naldo's POV to see that he really did love Anna. Even while he was confessing I kept waiting for him to explain how he was manipulating her. I couldn't quite figure out how or why these two loved each other.

I think the title says it all. If you have read one romance, you can probably guess what happens. Not great, but not bad. At 180 pages, you can't go wrong with this quick read.
