This is a great book on quieting the mind and meditation for beginners. I am a beginner and I've learned a great number of tools and techniques in this short book. The book lists various postures, breathing and meditation techniques in detail. I found it to be a no-nonsense book, getting down to the essence of the subject without unnecessarily extending the narrative. Now I need to get to work and apply these to quiet my mind and relax my soul.
This is a good book if you know little or nothing concerning meditation. It's objective and skims over the basics and goes "wiki" at times over the many styles and forms of meditation. If you are someone who is already involved in meditation, this book is a waste of time and breath. There are really no personal examples and the author is not an authority on the subject. It's more like "I feel like writing a book. Hmmm. Meditation? Sounds good. Let's get to it...". It's not a useless book, but I think it should be read by beginners or those curious on the subject but reluctant to dive into a thick specific book on the subject. The "Amazon Bestseller" thing is a gimmick and I resent that.

This is a great introduction to meditation. I enjoyed and employed some of the techniques while reading it. Most of these have met with success, others will take practice.
