I had the pleasure of receiving a copy of this book from Josie, in return for an honest review.

“Don’t hold on to promises you are no longer meant to keep- Caleb”

I liked the Prologue in this Book. It gave us a little bit about how Samantha Met Caleb.

In the first chapter Samantha is dealt with a Tragedy , when she and Caleb are in a car accident and He dies at the scene . The Paramedic who comes to the scene is Samantha's Ex Fiance/ Best friend . When Jason takes one look at Samantha in the car he Prays to god that she is ok.

When Samantha Wakes up in the hospital she finds out that Caleb has died in the accident. She is also faced with the fact that Jason who she has not seen in 5 yrs is in her hospital room , and she does not understand what he is doing there.

Samantha was a strong character in this book. Although she was devastated by her husbands Death she knew she needed to move on with her life and continue to heal from the accident because she had her daughter to raise.

“You know you’ve always been able to count on me…you should never doubt me again"

She excepts Jason help as a "friend" and agrees to try to re-build their friendship that they use to have.

Jason , I loved him, he was a true best friend, he did not push Samantha at all. He stepped right up to the plate and helped her with Corigan her daughter.

I like how this story did not just Jump right into Samantha and Jason being together after Caleb Died. I love how they built their friendship back up first.

“Samantha's head was screaming at her to stop, but her heart and her body were both giving her the finger.”

Jason's Mom and Missy OMG I wanted to smack them both so many times through out this book. I don't understand how ANY mother could do what she did to Jason, and I can't understand How Missy could do what she did to her Best friend. Although once it all came out , I understand it all a little better, BUT still who does something like that to someone.

Book Blurb:

“I’m in love with you, Sammy. I know it’ll always be you. I have no doubt about that… but I’m willing to wait until you see it, too"

This is definitely a good read, It is a slow build of a friendship that was lost , and a Samantha coming to the realization that She does still love Jason. I like how we got to see Samantha go through the grieving stages and actually dealt with her husbands death before just moving on with Jason.

The Weakness in Me by Josie Leigh tells how no matter what, love can conquer all if you give it a chance. Sometimes moving on from a lost love can be painful, but maybe the gaping hole that is left can be filled by another. Jason and Sammy met when they were children, became best friends and then more as they grew older. When it seemed she was betrayed, Sammy left Jason to start a new life without him, but Jason never stopped loving her. Five years later, a painful tragedy brought them back into each other’s lives again when Samantha survived an accident that killed her husband and Jason was called on the scene as an EMT. Reeling from the loss of Caleb and mistrustful of Jason’s intent, Samantha allows that possibly they could rebuild the friendship they both so greatly missed. Is there a chance for these two to re-kindle their lost love? Will Samantha be able to move on after Caleb’s death? Is Jason strong enough to hang on while Samantha determines if she can trust him again?
Josie Leigh has poured mountains of emotionally charged scenes into her book, creating amazing characters with depth and feelings. Even Caleb, in his death becomes a huge part of the story. Giving the characters a chance to slowly build on the positive aspects of their past, feels so right, I was lost in the story, feeling for each character and wanting things to work out for them! I think The Weakness in Me proves that there can be a second chance at love, even against all odds. If it is real, it will be there. Josie Leigh’s writing style is smooth and evenly paced, concentrating more on emotion than action in each carefully drawn scene. Romance, true romance!

The book for me started off slow but once it picked up pace I could not put it down. WOW.... It was like I was reading my crazy mum. HAHA ok she was not that crazy but close. Loved how the H stuck by the h and knew she was in love with her husband. He knew his mistakes made her leave and move on with her life. What a wonderful second chance at love romance. I only wished the OW had more karma coming to her. and let us not forget crazy bat crap crazy mum of H.

Samantha and Jason are childhood sweethearts meant to be together forever yet too easily torn apart by a misunderstanding that could have been solved if both hadn’t been so stubborn but then we wouldn’t be reading The Weakness in Me.

Fast forward five years, Samantha has moved on with the love of her life Caleb.

“I know, honey…Three years is a big deal, hell, every day with you is more amazing than the one before. I want to give you that, too.” Caleb

Jason is the paramedic on the scene when Samantha loses Caleb to a hit and run. Jason hasn’t moved on, he drags a seriously injured Samantha out of the wrecked car and vows to do everything in his power to help her with her baby and the months of recuperation ahead but more importantly to regain her friendship and wherever that might lead. Jason is under no illusions it will be easy but nor has the five years without her been easy either.

“I’m in love with you, Sammy. I know it’ll always be you. I have no doubt about that… but I’m willing to wait until you see it too.” Jason

Ah to be a woman deeply in love and loved in return by two such great guys, it appeals to the romantic in me.

The back story helped flesh out the characters and the story but I think much of the raw appeal was lost when Jason’s mother and Missy the femme fatale re-entered the picture to separate these two again as they had successfully done five years before. I skimmed much of it.

The pace of regaining what Sammy and Jason had lost didn't feel rushed. I felt her pain when she was finally ready to say goodbye to Caleb. Sob.

It’s like a breath of fresh air when it’s the female character who does the moving on. Very nice touch.

2.5 stars

If I had only to rate the quality of the writing I would probably have given this book 4 stars. Don't get me wrong I really believe Josie Leigh has talent and i hope to read something new from her, but this book just didn't work for me. 3 main reasons:

- From the beginning of this book you feel the tension growing stronger every chapter, however when the final confrontations came (with both ), I found them lacking.

- The flashbacks were nice, but they didn't make me connect with their love story. It was like I could hear the author trying to convince me that theirs was a deep meaningful love story, but I just couldn't feel it.

- I get they were both immature when they were 21, but come on! There is being immature and then there is this. I think this reason for the book not working for me is connected to the previous one. I didn't feel they were in love, so I can believe they broke up after 6 years due to what happened. If I had believed for a second they were in love I would have rolled my eyes (even more) at the reason for their break up.

I was very generously given a copy of this to read by the author in exchange for an honest review. I would give this book a solid 3.5/3.75 stars, but went ahead and gave it 4.0 stars simply because this book is by far better than the first novel I read from this author. Josie Leigh has shown so much growth in her writing since Love But Never, and her characters show it! Sammy goes through hell in this story and I want to shake her at times because she's so far removed from everything. I love Jason and the fact that he doesn't really let Sammy push him away, no matter how hard she tries. I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE Missy and Jamie...read the story to find out why! I did like the flashbacks that explained so much that would have been missed otherwise. All in all it was a good story, although the dialogue sometimes seemed a bit juvenile between some characters, and then overly adult between others, but I enjoyed it.

A lovely second chance love story with tragedy, secrets, frenemies, and a meddling parent. Childhood friends who later become engaged, they are torn apart by betrayal and Sammy moves on. But when tragedy strikes, Jason is there to help her pick up the pieces. He gives her the time she needs to get over her husband and helps take care of her baby daughter. Sweet and emotional with some humor, this is a wonderful romance.

well it was a good read...if a bit slow moving...the flashbacks were a nice touch...but all this Missy angle was a bit predictable and boring...

I rated Love, But Never, so I decided not to rate this one, even though I love it. I'm so glad to finally get to release the book, which is currently in the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards contest as a Quarter Finalist. When I entered the competition in January, I never thought getting this far was a possibility. I am excited and humbled to be amongst such great and accomplished writers.

The idea for this book came from the music video for "Quiet Things that No One Ever Knows" by Brand New, however the only thing the two really have in common is the a car accident.

The title for the book came from another song, this one by Joan Armatrading. The title lends more toward Jason's character and his love and devotion to his Sammy, whereas the lyrics lend to Sammy's struggle with her guilt moving on from Caleb and getting close to Jason again.

I hope you enjoy the book.

This book is so different from Josie's first book, but shows her continued growth as a writer. I loved Jason so much. He was always there for Sammy, even when she wasn't totally nice to him. My heart broke for everything Sammy went through to get back to who she was before the accident.
