Ian and Bull Westerfield have spent years loving each other in all the ways the law said they shouldn't. When they come across a drifter looking for work, the brothers invite the stranger into their home, and eventually, to their bed. Axel Bennett was looking for work, not a home. When an accident leaves him in the hands of the Westerfield brothers, they offer him both. Envious of the bond the brothers’ share, Axel agrees to stay the winter. Their love will be put to the test—a piece of land or the safety of each other?
This is my second read and i love this story..I know it's a touchy subject..Brothers who were brought up to sleep with their father...who love and sleep with each other...but it was done really well...Bringing Axel into their home Bull and Ian eventually bring him into their bed and they forge a special bond with just the three of them.....Hated by the people of the town they live in they have to decide wether to stay on their families ranch or leave and make a new start...I loved Bull and Axel but i think my heart was with Ian...I think the way he was with the other two was sweet and although he blames himself for his brothers death he still had the love his brother and Axel x
This book was a tiny bit of a let down. And it wasn't because of the incest. In fact I would say that, on the whole, that part wasn't really that big of a deal. What didn't work for me is that we are dropped in the middle of what could be an interesting and pretty gut wrenching story -if only we had the opportunity to read about it all.
From before the start of the book there's a harrowing backstory about the paternal family dynamic that goes back generations. There's ostracised brothers, a murder and a town divided. It could have been an amazing story of forbidden love conquering all. But it wasn't.
Unfortunately it felt like a good story was sacrificed for the sake of a small slice of some taboo sex.
I hope the author takes it as a compliment because I really wish this was fleshed out to a full length novel. I liked all the characters, the backstory and their hope for the future. Also, I love a good MMM. But overall, if you don't think about anything else, this was short, sweet and a bit sexy. I just wanted more, more, more.
This is a first for me, I usually really like this authors books. But I didn't care for this one. I like her other ones with brothers but not this one.
Not my cup of tea. This is my first time reading something of the sort, incestuous relationship and it left me disturbed. Throughout the book I was wondering why-why would she write such a book? why they never reported their dad for the abuse because Ian says he was a sadist and this can't be right. Are there cases of brothers having sex? Is it right? I am not narrowminded, but this is a big no. No parent should ever be intimate with their child. It left me feeling sick. I wish I had never read it
Blog Post: http://lovebytesreviews.com/2016/07/0... The Westerfields of Chatham County is a book about Ian and Bull Westerfield who have been bought up in a family that has, for as long as anyone can remember, been incestuous. Every generation the father’s take one son to their bed whilst the others get married and have children to carry on the Westerfield name. Ian and Bull had a third brother Guthrie who was only 18 when their mother died and Ian was “chosen” to be his fathers bed mate. Because their father was a mean, sadistic man who liked to use Ian against his brothers and kept threatening Ian that if he didn’t do exactly what he wanted he would take Guthrie instead! One day Ian discovered Guthrie’s beaten body, he’d been beaten to death. For years Ian believed their neighbor was the one who killed Guthrie but Bull had seen something that would put a completely different light on the subject. And then their father died of a heart attack and it was just Ian and Bull, they vowed they would only love and cherish each other and they did until they found a hitchhiker half frozen and took him home with them. Axel was looking for a job and a place to stay when he was caught in a snowstorm and found by the brothers. There was an immediate attraction between all three but there was also a heavy dose of caution on Bull and Ian’s part. Ian doesn’t want Axel to get hurt by the townsfolk who been against them since it came out that they have sex with each other. Bull isn’t sure he wants to let an outsider in and then have him leave. Although I in no way agree with the subject of this short-story Carol Lynne has a way with words that gets you past the “heebie-jeebies” with such a taboo subject.
Original review on Molly Lolly Four stars! This is erotica with content that many will have a problem with. If you aren’t into stories with brothers in love with each other, then definitely give it a pass. However if you love those kinds of stories like I do, then you should definitely pick this one up. It’s completely hot and sexy. There’s a great plot in the story that makes the time between the sex scenes actually worth reading. The way the brothers struggle to deal with their past and accept their future was really well written. I like how the relationship between Bull, Axel and Ian developed. Despite it being erotica, they didn’t jump into bed together right away. It happened naturally for the story and is all the better for it. There’s a nice happy for now ending showing these three are going to be together no matter what gets in their way. I would have liked another chapter to show how things work long term with the changes mentioned towards the end. However it is totally satisfying as is and suggest it for any other readers that enjoy this type of taboo story.
Another very well written book, yes it’s a taboo subject. But it’s so well done you get lost in the tale and not in the sex or the taboo subject.
This is about upbringing, a way of life, a sadistic father, a youth gone before it began and new beginnings.
These brothers only know this way of life, and even though they ‘know’ in the world it’s wrong, this is what they know. They keep to themselves, and although the ‘town folk’ make it hard for them, they hold there heads high and don’t give up.
When they find Axel, things change, feelings change, life changes.
During my reading of this, all I could think, how could something so beautiful be so wrong? And these three are so beautiful together. The way the meld and become one unit, they way they decide to be the bigger more adult party of the book.
My only complaint, I want it longer, I felt the end was rushed, not enough info or too much crammed into the last pages.
”Don’t get attached. He’s not one of your stray dogs.”-Bull //”You know you love my babies.”-Ian
This story tells us about Bull and Ian Westerfield, two brothers who are in a relationship with each other. They pick up Axel from the side of the road and take him home when he is injured. I had absolutely NO problems with the ménage aspect of the story, quite the contrary in fact. I actually enjoy ménage stories where all men are involved. However, the relationship between the brothers made me uncomfortable. As with many of Lynne’s titles, this book was well written. The editing was spot on perfect. The characters were well developed and the dialog flowed along smoothly. I’ve read quite a few of Lynne’s titles and I’ve enjoyed them.
This is a unexpectedly well-developed, complex and layered read for a book of only 48 pages. It contains a bit of lust, tragedy, menage, violence, family drama & taboo sex. The book also has a surprising depth of emotional content in conjuntion with contextual themes of healing, redemption and acceptance.
I want to just put it out there that this read contains Explicit, Full-Blood Relation Taboo Sex. So, if this offends or upsets you, please don't read it. Save yourself (and everyone else) the stress.
If you enjoy or are at least open to this naughty & controversial scenario, prepare for a healthy dose of sexy brotherly love...
As Always when I read a Carol Lynne western I not only fall in love with the Story, but the main and supporting characters make you want to keep going and sad when you get to the end of the story or series.. This is a Must Have and Reread book and series.
Good lord, this was a hot mess. So much potential, so much hotness, kinda just fucking "phoned in." I wanted more. It needed more. It was right there but never explored. Argh.
Complete and total frustration for what it could have been.
