Stan and Jan Berenstain (often called The Berenstains) were American writers and illustrators best known for creating the children's book series the Berenstain Bears. Their son Mike Berenstain joined them as a creative team in the late 1980s.
I had given this book to my husband on behalf of our son for Father's Day. I decided to read it with our son, and as soon as I turned the pages, my son was interested in the story (more specifically, the pictures that went along with the story). I loved the plotline in which Brother, Sister, and Honey think of a specific gift for Papa for Father's Day. In the end, they decide to create a coupon book in which Papa could trade in for chores to be done around the home. As the cubs got down to work, they soon found out that doing all of the chores that Papa does is hard work! We then see Papa coming to help his three cubs, deciding that spending time with them is more important then relaxing. Such a beautiful story with an excellent meaning behind it, would definitely recommend for any father figure that wants to teach his children about the importance of spending time with one another!
Enjoyed anytime but great for reading after The Berenstain Bears: We Love Our Mom!. While Mama received a memory filled photo album, Papa gets a well though-out IOU booklet and in the end well spent family time as the ultimate father's gift.
A fun book for fathers to share with their children on Fathers day or anytime. I have read most of the Berenstain Bear series (even when I was a kiddo myself) and this one was not as good as some of the older books. Not sure exactly what is different but it did have a different feel than some of the classics.
