I grew up hearing about Aristotle Onassis and his daughter Christina. This book is about Athina, Christina's daughter - the only living heir to Aristotle Onassis & Christina.

The author, Alexis Mantheakis was the press spokesperson and an advisor to the Onassis family. He provides an inside look at the family.

Christina died when Athina was only 3 years old. Athina inherited a fortune from Christina once she turned 18. The book is about all the different players jockeying for control of her money. One might think that inheriting a lot of money would make life a breeze. It seems in Athina's case it made life very challenging for her and it was difficult to determine who to trust.

I read the book on my kindle and there were some typos and grammatical errors. I believe the book needs some editing.

I hope that Athina has found peace and happiness in her life. I hope she has found a husband who loves and cares for her. She deserves it after all she has lived through.

As far as I could make out this was written by an ex-employee with a grudge. It seems there are a lot of snide remarks or criticisms couched as comparisons which didn't impress me in the least and I packed it in at 11% in. He also assumes we all know everything there is to know about Athina-like referring to Sandrine-I'd no idea who she was !!
I expected a book about Athina's life but this kicks off with Athina at 19 and with what she was doing then and right away refers to her husband.
He mentions all he's done for the family at every turn which I found pretty tiresome and it comes across as a massive dose of sour grapes to me and I wasn't the least bit interested. That wasn't the book I planned on reading when I downloaded it.

This book could use a good editor to sort through the timeline as it was haphazardly written. It would talk about the past, jump to the present, go back to sometime recent, then back again to the beginning and this occurs several times throughout . . . however, it was interesting to read as it was written by somebody who had insider knowledge on what was truly going on during the clash between Thierry Roussel (Athina's father) and the greek administrators of the Onassis foundation.

Sad Story

I purchased this book because I often think of the lives people live as the jet set elite. I expected to read about luxury, travel, exotic settings and such. Instead I found a very sad story about one battle after another all centered around money, lies and corruption.

In the Eye of the Storm is not a biography but an insider's account into the Onassis family. It is an amusing read at times and often tragic. Certainly worth some time.

I read the book on my Kindle when I was on holiday in Greece - it was Ok but too much repetition and jumping from one topic to another.
