Rate this book
Entertaining memories of one man's coming of age during World War II-- a bittersweet childhood, his Italian-American family, being a teen during the Great Depression, finally, his courageous military career in which he fought for his country from the rear of a B-24 bomber. "A beautifully written story...Mr. Picardo has captured the joy, fear, and exhilaration of that period of our history. I recommend this to anyone wishing to experience the tone and texture of World War II."--James R. Conlin

The memoirs of a World War II B-24 tail gunner from Seattle, Washington. His story starts out before World War continues through the war and ends years later. Both the beginning and the end of this book play a important part of his story.
