Detective Rafe Morgan knew that, as a psychologist, Darby Steele was used to people coming to her in need. But now she was the one in danger. A serial killer had made her a pawn in a sick game, sending her photos of his targets with clocks counting down. As a part-time bomb technician, Rafe was uniquely capable of keeping Darby safe. Usually psychologists rubbed Rafe the wrong way, but when it came to Darby, his urge to protect and serve went way beyond the badge. Getting to know the beautiful doctor had opened Rafe's eyes—and his heart. But if their elusive bomber had his way, Rafe would never get a chance to prove just how far he'd go to keep Darby alive.

I loved this book! A bomber had his sights set on Darby who was a counselor. Rafe was a detective. He didn’t like any counselor’s. Darby, and Rafe saw each other in court often, and they were on opposite side.
The suspense was intense. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, the story twisted in another direction. I loved the way Rafe treated Darby. He was always so tentative, and caring. The romance melted my heart. This book was also very emotional. Rafe was dealing with his wife being murdered. Darby was dealing with her fear of dark places. She had falling into a well when she was little leaving her terrified of dark places. Together Rafe, and Darby helped each other. Spending time with each other you could slowly see their hearts being healed. This was a beautiful story, with action, villains, and romance. This will be added to my read again list!
Sample from chapter 2 Darby turned back around to try to stand so she could steer the boat. She gasped in horror and lunged for the steering wheel. Too late. The shallow marsh rushed up to meet them. The hull of the boat hit the muddy ground with a sickening crunch and stuck, tossing the back of the boat skyward. The force of the impact catapulted Darby, Rafe, and the other man into the air. Darby screamed and threw her hands out, bracing for impact. She landed with a squishy thud, her momentum rolling her over onto her back. Her head hit the ground so hard she thought she heard her teeth rattle.
Sample from chapter 14 When Ralf’s lips moved against hers, heat shot through her from the top of her head to the soles of her feet. How could he make her feel cherished and treasured and make her crave him with an intensity that was frightening, all at the same time?
[image error] Lena Diaz has written one explosive action-thriller. From the first chapter this pulse pounding adventure has you on the edge of your seat wondering when the ride is going to end.
Rafe Morgan is a cop who puts away bad guys and Darby Steel is a psychologist usually on the defense side trying to get them off. Not a good mix of job personalities. But when they are suddenly thrown together when a bomber sets his sights on people that Rafe and Darby know professionally, Rafe’s protective instinct kick in to keep Darby safe and that is not an easy job when she’s next on the list along with Rafe.
Along with trying to stay one step ahead of the bomber Rafe and Darby both end up having to come face to face with tragedies from their past. I don’t think there was a boring moment in this book. Along with Rafe I also fell in lust with his brother and his ex-partner on the force and hope that one day they get they will get their own stories too.
In Diaz’s romantic suspense novel, a serial killer has targeted psychologist, Darby Steele and it’s up to Detective Rafe Morgan to protect her. Associating with mental health professionals rubbed Rafe the wrong way but his unique talent as a bomb technician made him perfect for handling the job and he would do his job to the best of his ability. On the run from a killer forces them to get to know each other and soon they both realize there is more to their relationship than meets the eye.
The action explodes from the first page in Lena Diaz's Explosive Attraction. Bomb expert, Rafe, and psychologist, Darby, may have sat opposite each other in court one too many times, but when a killer forces them to invade each others' personal lives the attraction sizzles. These are characters you'll find yourself rooting out loud for. There are enough twists and turns to keep you reading to the last page. Well done, Ms. Diaz.
"A psychotic bomber, a phobia-ridden psychologist and a bomb tech running from his painful past, as well as a plot that keeps the tension taut, all escalate the pace until the climactic finale." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 1/2 stars
The latest book by Lena Diaz grabs you by the throat from page one. Masterful writing, wonderful plots, and a great sense of humor are Diaz's trademarks and this book is no exception.
BOOM ... And the book takes off from there. Fast and good. Could not put the book down. Read it on a long car trip. Will be reading the Undercover Twin next.
I loved it! Yay, finally! I haven't said that about a book in a long time. It kept me on my toes and it wasn't insta-love. It was actually hate and then love. The ending was perfect and there were no loose ends. Minimal spelling errors. I will definitely re-read in the future. The one thing I didn't like was how after 26 Years no one told her the truth. Surely her therapist would have thought the truth would have been better.
