A New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and holds a B.A. in English from York University. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a writer, and actively began pursuing that dream when she was a teenager.
Elle currently writes for various publishers. She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes, and just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting!
Rating 3.25 stars Nice end to an enjoyable series. Nick finally finds out who was after him and his friends and falls for sassy reporter Rebecca who totally doesn't fit into his vision of the future because she is no I will quit my job and stay at home with kids types.
Excellent book and conclusion to the trilogy. Rebecca is a hot shot journalist covering a Central American election. When she gets caught in a riot Nick comes to her rescue. Her journalistic curiosity gets the better of her when she recognizes him and she starts looking for answers about why he is there. This puts him back in the crosshairs of the people looking for him and gets her in trouble with them also. Soon they are both on the run as they get closer to the mastermind behind the conspiracy.
I really liked both Rebecca and Nick. Rebecca loves her work as a tv journalist. She thrives on getting into the heart of a story no matter how dangerous it is. I loved her intensity and how determined she was to do her job. When she met Nick there was an attraction between them that was like nothing she had ever felt before and she was very willing to pursue it. When she recognized Nick and started asking questions about why he was there she didn't expect it to put her and everyone she worked with in danger, even though Nick had told her to walk away and forget she'd ever seen him. When he saved her again from those who tried to kill her because of him she insisted on sticking with him and helping him find out who is behind it all. Her ability to adapt to any circumstances and her unwillingness to be left behind where it was safe ended up being a big asset to Nick and his search. I really enjoyed the way she stood up to him and went after what she wanted, whether it was the story or Nick himself. One of the things I loved most about her was the way that she understood Nick and his motivations. The more she got to know him the more her feelings changed from just physical to a deep emotional attachment. She also listened to him talk about his dreams for the future and realized that what he was talking about wasn't her style. This caused her to pull away from him emotionally but she still stuck with him to pull off the final confrontation. I loved the way she refused to compromise her own dreams just to keep him with her.
I loved Nick from the first book on. He was the one who seemed to be the most laid back and easy to deal with. There was also the feeling, however, that you really didn't want to get on his bad side. The first time he saw Rebecca doing her reporting from the middle of that rioting crowd he was drawn to her. He has always kept a tight hold on his emotions and as much as he wanted her he told her flat out it wasn't going to happen. He doesn't do casual hookups and there was no way he was going to have a relationship with someone who constantly put herself in danger. His dreams center around a relationship like his parents had, with his mom being the calm port in the storm of their lives. When Rebecca's curiosity about him puts her in danger his protectiveness comes out. He keeps trying to keep her safe and she insists on being right there with him. It drives him nuts that she won't cooperate but the intensity of their growing attraction keeps her on his mind constantly. I loved the way that they were able to work together and how well their abilities complemented each other. As they got closer to solving the mystery Nick got more worried about the identity of the person behind it all. Rebecca was able to help him deal with those worries. He was still being blind about what it was he really wanted in life until a discussion with his father made him open his eyes. The resolution of the conspiracy finally showed him that he could have it all.
Terrific conclusion to this trilogy! The mystery kept me guessing right up to the end and the suspense had me on the edge of my seat, expecting another shoe to drop just when I thought I knew what was what! Great job by Ms. Kennedy. Nick and Rebecca made an awesome couple, she's so kickass and he's a doll. I'm glad Nick was able to realize what he thought he wanted wasn't what he needed.
I knew this was Elle Kennedy when I downloaded it and assumed I'd enjoy it for that reason alone, but I've never read romantic suspense from her before. That was a first and despite this saying it was The Hunted book 1, it was clear in reading it that there were two books ahead of it. I found them listed on Goodreads.
Nick is former military Special Ops and has been on the run for the last year since someone in the US government is hunting to kill him. He knows too much about a deadly disease that someone in the government ordered to be released on a small rural village in another country and now they want him dead. Well, him and two of the men from his former unit that made the discovery. While abroad chasing down a lead, he runs into Rebecca Parker, a famous broadcast journalist from the US. She's covering civilian unrest after an unfair election. When Nick spots her, she's about to be trampled and the two are unwittingly linked together to see this conspiracy through to the bitter end, because now Nick isn't the only one Mr. X in the government is targeting.
This was a super quick read. For a while I was trying to figure out what the government backstory was and that was a little challenging, but as the story progressed I figured it out. I liked it, but not as much as Kennedy's contemporary romance books.
This one was a disappointment after the previous. Not regarding the unralving of some of the mysteries, regarding Nick's mysterious family or regarding the potential culprits behind the death threat on the 3 men's heads, but rather regarding his mate. I did not like the heroine at first, thinking that she lacked a bit of common sense and did not care one bit about other's wellbeing and safety. Then I did not like how she handled the less than satisfying relationship she started to have with Nick. Obviously she never learnt her lessons and kept jumping head first where she should not be, endangering the others. Even at the end I kept hoping he would manage to get rid of her for someone more deserving. 5 stars for the suspense, 4 for the hero and only 1 for the stubbornly stupid headstrong heroine.
Special Ops Exclusive, the third and final installment in Elle Kennedy’s The Hunted series, was an okay read, though not as strong as the second book.
Nick Prescott (aka Barrett) is the third team member to head into the field, tasked with uncovering who wants the team dead. He’s in the right place at the right time to save renowned journalist Rebecca Parker from being trampled by a rioting crowd. Their attraction is immediate, and they agree to meet for drinks that evening. Rebecca quickly recognizes Nick as the son of the Head of the Department of Defense. He urges her to keep his presence there a secret, warning her that revealing his identity could be dangerous. Naturally, Rebecca ignores this warning and launches her own investigation, which leads the villains to Nick’s location and triggers attempts on both their lives.
The romance here was marginally better than in the previous two installments, but only slightly. There was some chemistry, yet the relationship arc felt flat. As with Tate and Sebastian’s stories, the emotional weight of the relationship was carried almost entirely by the female lead. Rebecca was the one pushing for more, while Nick resisted. I genuinely don’t understand the appeal of this trope, where the woman pursues the man despite his clear reluctance. Is this something readers enjoy, or did the author miss the memo about shifting relationship dynamics in modern romance? Personally, it’s a trope that dampens my enjoyment every time.
Rebecca is a strong, stubborn, go-getter, and I liked her more than Eva and Julia from the earlier books. She’s independent, career-driven, and refuses to be bossed around. Admirable traits, certainly, but they came with downsides. At times, Rebecca lacked empathy, acted selfishly, and made decisions that defied common sense. The death of her team and her producer-slash-mentor was undeniably her fault. She ignored Nick’s plea for discretion, driven by ambition, and people died because of it. Though she briefly acknowledged her role in their deaths, the moment was fleeting. Her habit of replacing swear words with childish epithets also felt more silly than endearing.
Nick had a charming mix of alpha confidence and gentlemanly restraint. What grated, though, was his rigid view of what he wanted in a woman, and his refusal to see that Rebecca, though not his “ideal,” might be right for him. He clung to this fantasy until his father revealed that the marriage he idolized wasn’t as perfect as he believed. Only then did Nick reconsider Rebecca as “the one,” which made his sudden declaration of love feel insincere. I agree with other reviewers: Nick and Rebecca weren’t a good match. Their life goals were fundamentally incompatible. Nick wanted a traditional stay-at-home wife, while Rebecca was an ambitious career woman unwilling to sacrifice her independence. Neither goal is wrong, but together they don’t mesh, and I couldn’t see the relationship lasting.
One aspect that really annoyed me was Rebecca’s seduction plan. She planned to seduce Nick, yes, but during execution, unbelievable excuses were attached to her actions (in an effort to make her seem not so... brazen?). From the outset, she’s upfront about wanting to seduce Nick. Then, after he receives bad news, she offers a “comforting” hug and kiss—which escalates—and insists it wasn’t part of her seduction plan. Fine. But it happens again. Nick is upset, and Rebecca once more offers physical comfort, again claiming it’s not seduction. Then it happens a third time where she follows him into the shower under the pretense of checking his wound. That was also not part of the seduction plan, apparently. Yeah right. The idea of offering physical intimacy as emotional comfort, especially repeatedly, felt disingenuous. If Rebecca is sexually assertive, let her own it. Don’t dilute it with claims of innocence. Her behavior—throwing herself at Nick, then blushing when he sees her naked—felt contradictory, as if the author wanted to portray her as both brazen and shy. Pick a lane. She can’t be both.
There was some head-hopping, the suspense was serviceable but resolved too easily, and I never truly felt the emotional connection between Nick and Rebecca. That said, the writing and storytelling weren’t bad. I’d rate this one 2.5 stars, rounded up to a 3.
Special Ops Exclusive (The Hunted) by Elle Kennedy (Author) Rebecca Parker a star Journalist is in the middle of a riot...but she will not give up the story. When Rebecca puts her own life in danger and Ignores Nick's warnings to walk away, Rebecca proves she does what she wants…but is Rebecca to stubborn for Nick, to get the love that she needs? What a great read!!! Suspense, drama, mystery, this book has it all. Loved these two characters. Did not figure out till the end....
I bought this book thinking it’s the first one because it said 1st part, but They’ve mixed it up on amazon kindle and I realised about 30% of the boom that actually it’s the 3rd one. But anyway, it’s not exactly quantum physics, so I read it afterall, will read the first one next 😄. The story was nice although a bit rushed at times. However I didn’t like Rebecca at all, she was the embodiment of Susan from HR, just with long hair. And also I believe that being strong-minded and independent is not equal to being reckless and downright stupid at times, with no patience at all. Anyway, as I said the story was nice, waiting to read the first one as well, hopefully I’ll like the characters better.
What a great end to the Hunted trilogy. In this novel we hear Nick's story. In the middle of a revolution and the heart of a bloody riot Nock Prescott meets the Titian haired beauty, reporter Rebecca Parker. Saving her from danger the pair embark on exposing the scandal being the Project Aries and the Meridian virus. But Nick Soon discovers that the culprit is closer than he thinks but can he and Rebecca expose them before they get to them first? A fast paced and exciting finale to this romantic yet thrilling mini series. Brilliant characters as always, believable and with suspense on every page, a great read every one of them.
The third and final installment to The Hunted series, Special Ops Exclusive concludes the underlying plot of all three books, as Tate, Sebastian, and Nick find out who was behind The Aries Project and ultimately wanted them dead. Each book focused on a different surviving member of the team. This, the third book, is Nick's story and his romance with Rebecca Parker, a journalist. Action, passion, and suspense combine to create a who-done-it that'll keep you guessing. Entertaining. Satisfying HEA.
I really enjoyed this conclusion to the series. The author wrapped everything up nicely. Rebecca was perfect for Nick. Nick was great. Not as much action in this one, but was a good journey. Technically this is a stand alone, but you really should read all the books in order to understand the whole story. Well worth reading the series.
I really enjoyed all three books in this trilogy. In each one, the author makes you care about the characters right from the beginning. There's a lot of action and suspense to keep the books fast paced and also a romance to go with each book.
Honestly meh. Early Elle Kennedy (Circa 2015 I believe) and it’s clear to see she was just getting going. After reading the amazing success series of the Off Campus collection, this was a bit of a “meh.” Overall though a decent light read to entertain!
Seemed a bit more rushed than the other two in the series. The relationship between the two main characters didn't feel as developed. Overall, a fun series.
I wanted to like this book, but at most I found it 'okay'. Take this with a grain of salt, as this is the conclusion of a trilogy for which I haven't read the first two books. My problem wasn't with the plot (though I wasn't overly involved in that either), it was more with the main characters. I didn't like them as much as I could have. It's odd, too, because both of these characters possess traits that usually endear me to people. I liked that Rebecca was smart, stubborn, and capable. I liked that Nick was a badass and a gentleman. But Rebecca's non-expletives were incredibly annoying to me, and Nick's constant bossing her around and refusal to let her help (even when he did, he wasn't happy about it) drove me up the wall. I also rolled my eyes over and over again at his insistence that she couldn't be the woman for him because he wanted a woman just like his mother.
One other thing — I understand that it's a staple of category romances for the main characters to be undeniably, irresistibly attracted to each other. I've read many category romances, so this is not new territory for me. But in this case, it seemed really over the top. They were constantly getting hot for each other in the worst possible situations, and I just kept thinking, "My god. People are dying. You have a gun pointed at your head, literally right this second. Control your boner."
So, overall, I wasn't a fan of this book. I wouldn't read it again, and this book doesn't really leave me with the desire to read the other two in the trilogy. I'm not sure if I should take this as a sign that this author just isn't for me, though. I might give one of her other series a shot, or maybe a standalone. We'll see.

Nice guy and gentlemanly Nick's story is up in this last book - and after the thrilling ride of Sebastian's story, I think I just fell flat on my face the moment he meets Rebecca, a pesky journalist who doesn't know when to let go of things.
The overprotective nature of Nick isn't as Alpha or as neanderthal as I thought it would be, and I definitely saw sense why he wanted Rebecca to stay behind. I'm all for strong heroines, but all too often they cross the line into TSTL territory when they insist on doing things their own way without regard for their or anyone else's safety, under the illusion that it preserves and/or asserts their intelligence/independence only to ironically reinforce the opposite.
I'd never felt for one moment, that Nick was objecting to Rebecca working or being in a profession that courted danger (incidentally) but rather the rash way she jumped into things and bulldozed everyone into accepting only her opinion that her work matters the most - without acknowledging the chip on her shoulder or the need to compromise for a relationship to work. The way she spoke even came across as selfish: wanting to pursue stories that intrigued her without regard for Nick or how priorities might change in a relationship. Why authors insist then, on such character portrayal leaves me clueless. Again, I almost cheered when Nick wanted to walk away from her, and sulked when he miraculously realised that stubbornness (or maybe better known as 'passion') is what he lacked in life.
I thought this book wrapped things up for this series. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough with all 3 guys together, this book was mostly the Nick and Rebecca show.
I did like Nick and Rebecca together, I loved that they argued all the time, but were able to make the other see their side. I liked how they worked together to help bring things down. I was worried for a bit when it looked like the person behind things was a little too close to home. I loved how everything came out at the end, Rebecca played things perfectly.
I thought the very end was great, a way to catch up with all the couples.
High 4 stars for Nick and Rebecca. This was probably the best of the trilogy as far as plot and twists. An early on revealed twist took me by total surprise, and really added a whole other layer to the intrigue and story. Action packed throughout, with a few moderately steamy scenes. Well written with good character development. Strong heroines to match the alpha-male military heroes really makes for an above average romantic suspense read. I appreciate the short epilogue at the end that updated for all the couples. Great final book in a really nice romantic suspense trilogy. I'm glad I sought out these older titles from Elle Kennedy.
I loved Nick and Rebecca! I just loved how kind and what a gentleman Nick was but still had that manly persona. A rugged warrior who knew how to treat a woman in every respect 😉
I loved the romance, I loved Nicks character and Rebecca but I also loved the story! The twists and turns, the political aspects of the story. It just pulled me completely in!

this book wasn't quiet as action packed as the last two were, but it was a great end to the series. in no way did I expect it to end that way and wow it was a great suspense. I hope you guys llike it as much as I did.
I read this book without having read the previous books in the series. There was a little mention of the characters in the previous books, but I was able to understand and enjoy this book without having read the previous books. I might go back and read them to see how this story started.
"Passionate, easy chemistry between them (H/h) coupled with huge doses of intrigue and action make this a satisfying conclusion to a well-planned trilogy." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 stars
