This is a nice read. The introduction gives an interesting overview on the evolution of cinema, and argues that British cinema lost relevancy in the wake of the big Hollywood productions.
The actual list of 100 movies contains a few classics like Citizen Kane and Psycho, but there are a few strange omissions. For instance, none of the three Back To The Future films make the list, Raiders Of The Lost Ark is nowhere to be seen, and Ghostbusters is ignored also. I get that films like The Red Shoes and Battleship Potemkin have more artistic merit for inclusion, but it still feels odd to exclude some movies that became bonafide classics.
The section on The Wizard Of Oz is a particular standout, highlighting some of the challenges the film went through, with frequent cast changes and one of the actors dealing with an allergy to aluminium powder. It's truly a wonder that The Wizard Of Oz became the classic that it is rightfully considered to be today.
