I read this book today with one of my students. She picked it off of the shelf because she recently broke a bone and wanted to learn more about what is going on inside her body as her bone repairs itself. This book was a medium-length book that included not only descriptions throughout the story but lots of dialogue too. She enjoyed it when we read the student's chat bubbles because it was similar to a comic! This book was also extremely educational, it showed us the broken bone, the cells inside your body around that bone, and eventually how your bone creates tissue to repair itself. Overall I really enjoyed reading this book and feel as if it is a great option for a science concept in school.

A look at a skeleton's broken arm bone. The magic school bus takes the kids inside the broken bone. She shows the kids how bones repair themselves.

This book talks about bones. Like all Magic School Bus books, this would tie great into content or lessons about the topic. This book could be appropriate for Halloween time or a unit about the body, bones or skeletons. I feel that it could be used for a wide range of grades, just adapt conversations and extension activities based on level.
Some tie in activity ideas could be to have a craft where students make bones or a skeleton. I would love to play the bones Go Noodle with this. As with any book in this series, there could be a cool STEAM activity that involved creating a design for the bus on either this trip or one of their own inventing.
