The sequence of events leading to the end seem improbable yet not implausible, making the whole thing build to a horrific final snuffing out of the main character. The repetitions within the prose work toward showing the rising insanity of the MC.

Effective and frightening short story by a talented writer. Almost reminded me of an Edgar Allan Poe short with the way things twisted and didn't quite go as you expected.
