The melting point is where it all comes together…or makes a big mess.

San Amaro Singles, Book 1

Corey Fenwick keeps her bitter past as hidden as the sweet centers inside the handmade chocolates she sells to a growing list of upscale customers. Experience has taught her the only person she can rely on is herself, so her best-friends-with-benefits relationship with Matt is perfect—no strings attached.

After his last girlfriend deemed him “boring”, Matt Ferber watched her ride off on the back of a Harley with a rock musician. Figuring he’s doomed to “let’s just be friends” with the women he cares about, the arrangement with Corey suits him fine too. Until his old friend Dylan Schell rolls into town to hang out while recovering from a surfing injury.

The sexy bad boy makes Corey’s mouth water, and she figures a harmless fling won’t hurt, especially when Dylan suggests she come between him and Matt—in bed.

It’s a win-win-win situation…until somehow there are strings attached. And too late they realize they’re getting all tangled up.

Warning: This book contains an independent woman, two hot guys, some trash talking, a little jealousy, a few beers, chocolate body paint and scary stuff like falling in love.

One more book like that and I will start hating the books which contain threesomes in a romance novel!!!! I truly believe that and I hate to say it aloud. (Edited to add that in 2021 I just dislike threesomes in books only when only two of them get a happy ending)

A 2-star rating because:

A) The plot wasn't good (It's better if you watch the movie No strings attached or Friends with Benefits).

I did not get what the author was trying to write about. 3 people got together, 3 people got hurt and only 2 of them found their HEA. 1 was left hurt and alone to face his fears. Kelly Jamieson made a big mess in my opinion (and no, I don't mean that in a hurtful way to the author I still love most of her books). Unless she plans to write Dylan's story she has made a big fuck up. This is the story of 2 friends who have a no-strings-attached relationship and are completely satisfied with what they have and get their lives complicated when Dylan arrives.
Suddenly our couple realizes that they have feelings for the other which is something I did not like. Even though Matt is jealous he acts like nothing is bothering him and Corey doesn't realize her feelings about him until the end. They have no idea how they feel about the other until the last pages of the book. It was kinda plotless. The book could have been written with half the pages it has now and nothing would be missing. In fact, it would be better.

B)The point of views were confusing.

Usually in a romance novel when we see a different point of views is mostly of the people who will end up together. But here we have also Dylan's POV and that was unsettling. He seemed like a temporary thing but then we see his view. His catalytic role made me like him a little. Just a little.

C) It made me hate the threesomes in the book.

I love threeways you should know that. But not the ones when it gets in the way of a relationship. I like them when they happen between strangers, a couple that knows what they are getting into and when the 3 parts are in a relationship. But not like that. I ended up skipping the pages when Dylan, Corey, and Matte were together.

With Strings Attached is the first book in the San Amaro Singles series. It is a steamy, sexy, funny story that is guaranteed to warm your heart and leave you sweaty.

Corey and Matt have been friends for years. After a long night and a few drinks, their friendship upgrades to lover status and they both realize they are very compatible in both roles. They agree to be friends with benefits. This situation works perfect for both of them.

Matt is busy running and growing his brewery and Corey is consumed with her own upscale, elite, chocolate making business. Both have been burned in the past, and neither one is looking for any type of commitment. No strings, no future, no expectation, just live in the moment and enjoy.

When Matt’s friend Dylan shows up for a visit while recovering from a surfing accident, the sparks immediately fly between him and Corey.

She is confused about her feeling towards Matt and Dylan and when the idea of having them both is issued, who could possibly turn that down?
In typical Jamieson style we are treated to scorching, electric, burn the pages sex. She is one of the best at writing an erotic scene that leaves no room for guess work. The description is well balanced between all the bodyparts and you are never left with any questions about where or how a scene plays out. Oftentimes when reading ménage, the scenes don’t mesh well and are quite unbelievable. With this story that is not the case. You get the real deal, and it’s blazing hot.
The dynamic and chemistry between the three characters is fantastic. Matt is simply the best friend everyone needs to have. Unfortunately, that is what everyone always sees in him. He is always there to help out and would bend over backwards to lend a hand. Dylan is the Pro surfer bad boy who has been around the block, the state, and the country. Corey can’t help but to fall for the guy. He has his own demons in his closet and his accident wasn’t all it was explained to be originally. Then there is Corey. My heart broke while reading her story. She has literally lived in hell and is scared to death to have to rely on anyone for anything. Everyone she has ever loved has let her down. She can’t possibly care about someone enough to have to depend on them. And this, is where their lives, their stories, their pasts and their futures all entwine into a complex and beautiful story. Her walls have to come down and she has to learn that there are always strings in love. She has to accept that sometimes being in love and being happy is worth the chance.

I am a big fan of Kelly’s. She is a beautiful story teller who researches her stories and explains things in a precise, but not overboard way. She pulls you in and has the ability to keep you invested in her characters well after the story is over. I’m excited to see where she takes this series. I can’t wait for the next installment.

2.25 Stars for me!

I just didn't get the extreme naivety of the h or the spineless nature of the H. Most threesome's fail because of jealousy. In this case, the H has a long-term friendship which has just gotten sexual with the h. In comes the injured best friend and he asks about the h. Instead of just saying that he is into her, dumba$$ H says, go for it... we are just friends. There us a lot of back and forth plus extreme ignorance with all 3 MCs.

Throw in the father and the completely ignorant stance of the h to let him help her since he didn't help her while she was growing up is just insane.

AUTHORS... Just because a female character accepts help from others, they are not weak. If they don't make use of resources around them, they will fail in life. Help is not weakness.

Annoyed 80% of the book was about exploring the relationships between three people, yet there was only a m/f HEA. FYI no mm only mf or mfm.

The couple ended up making the decision to never continue the kink of having an extra in the bedroom. It instead felt like an unnecessary plot device used for them to avoid admitting they were friends with benefits. It also now felt like cheating as they weren't honest about their true feelings about how uncomfortable they were with a 3rd in the bed.

Honestly, sometimes comments were made that made the erotica feel awkward. I felt that at some point, everyone's arm was being twisted to participate. I didn't enjoy the reluctant feel to the mfm.

Hot Damn. This was a fun and sexy read. I picked this book up after being offered a spot on the blog tour for the second book. Yeah, I am a bit backward but oh well. I am SO glad that my OCD wouldn't allow me to read out of order even though it appears they could be stand alones. I adored the story between Corey, Matt and Dylan even though the threesome action went against my summer pledge. There are always acceptations to the rule right?

I bit about our party of three:

Corey, I have to say I loved her. She is such a sweet girl who has a bit of a rough/troubled past. I love strong women and she certainly is that. She has made her way through a shitty childhood with a bipolar and pretty absent mother to be successful after leaving a major chocolate corporation to go out on her own. Her independence is endearing as well as her stubborn streak, she does not want to ask for help from anyone and yet we see she is vulnerable at the same time. She has been saving to open her own shop and she mentors kids who have family members with mental illness…did I say I loved her? This woman is fantastic and makes me feel like a lazy bum. It’s a good thing she lives in a book…just saying.
Corey’d gone through hell and come out of it a strong, amazing woman, albeit with a bit of a chip on her shoulder but who could blame her?

Matt, good lord! Do they make men like this in real life? He is an all around nice guy who helps out his widowed mother and sister with her kids PLUS his little sister. He has a taken on the father role since his father passed away. Matt not only own his own microbrewery but he is constantly making new beers with great names and tie-ins to his life. He is not the luckiest in love was burned in a previous relationship which led to him starting a friends with benefits deal with Corey after she was burned as well. Friends with benefits…men and women being JUST friends. Why do I hear Billy Crystal’s speech in When Harry Met Sally in my head?
Women regarded him as a nice guy friend material but not red-hot lover material. The guy who was too nice to flirt with, or go out with.

And then we have Dylan, oh baby! Our local boy done good pro surfer who has come home after an injury that has taken him off the latest tour. Confused and troubled about his injury and the state of his career, he reunites with his buddy Matt and meets Corey….Dylan and Matt and Corey…things are bound to get interesting.
But being there with Matt and Corey and caring and feeling was strangely easy. It fit, like a perfect wet suit.

Matt and Corey have both been burned in relationships and have sworn them off. Matt has always lived in the friend zone and Corey knows how to pick the bad boys that don’t treat her right. After a night of one too many drinks they end up in bed together and have a great time. What else do you do when you have hot sex with your best friend? Become friends with benefits of course.

This works out well for Corey and Matt; hanging out and having sex when they feel like it. They get the both of best worlds until the world gets tilted by the arrival of Matt’s friend Dylan. Oh sexy pro surfer Dylan. Even with that boot on your foot you were yummy. Yes, yummy. I have soft spot for boys who surf. So Dylan shows up, he takes an instant liking to Corey and Corey to him. With Matt and Corey not being in a relationship things should go fine with this attraction…until someone suggests that the attraction include a little math: 1+1+1=Threesome. Yup.

Seeing her being held by another guy like that was…hot.

Fuck. They both wanted her.

“Corey,” he said again. “What do you want?”

“I want you both,” she whispered.

“Both of us,” Dylan repeated. “Well I’m up for a threeseome.”

Oh yeah. I was up for that too. Holy Smokes! There are times when you read a sex scene and you have to think..wait who is where and you get lost in the mechanics. That is SO not the case with this story. This author knows her sex and even though I mentioned that Matt is a nice guy, there are four words that he says to Corey that are smoking hot. Phew. Just thinking about that makes me squirm. Now sex always makes things complicated and for these three there is no exception. They have a great time sure but only when together, the three of them. Hmm. Why is that? The underlying feelings between Matt and Corey are thrust forward and the triangle becomes messy.

Will they or won’t they? Who will end up with whom? The story flowed nicely and as you get into the past of these three you feel involved in their lives. Corey with her parental issues, Matt and his mom being well not just a mom and Dylan with his sporadic moments of instant panic regarding his future and the residual side effects of his accident that just make my heart ache for him, for each of them and just wanted it all to work out in one tidy, sexy Happily Ever After…in bed. Yes, I tossed out a cheesy fortune cookie pun there.

With Strings Attached is a great friends to lover’s story with a twist. It was fun, sexy, smart and such an easy read. I am ready to move on with the rest of the series and pack my bags to move to this sexy little beach town where love and everything in between flows as gorgeous as the waves.

I like friends to lovers stories. That’s what the first book in Kelly Jamieson’s new San Amaro Singles series is. But what made it fresh for me was the characters. I loved the main protagonists in With Strings Attached. Corey and Matt are complicated and relatable. I was eager for them to realize that their “no strings” relationship was anything but that. Dylan comes into their lives and the situation comes to a boiling point.

Corey and Matt are best friends… with benefits. They care about one another and support each other. Matt runs his own microbrew company and I got a kick out of his various ale names and his ideas for new brews. He had a pizza/beer combination failure that made me laugh. Corey creates gourmet chocolates. I was hungry a few times while reading this book!

I loved learning about their jobs and seeing them actually work was nice. I liked all the layers to their characters. I could see where Corey was coming from and why she didn’t want to rely on anyone. I wanted to shake Matt’s ex for dumping him and making him think girls want Bad Boys who will treat them like crap, not nice guys like him…. And then I wanted to shake him for believing that. *sigh* We really do NOT all want guys who treat us like garbage. A man like Matt, who’s responsible and cares enough to take time from his busy schedule to check on the women in his life and make sure they’re ok, is a keeper. That Matt was hot and didn’t recognize it makes him even more attractive. *sigh* I crushed hard for Matt.

Matt’s buddy Dylan comes to stay with him to recuperate from a bad surfing accident. I adored him*sigh* I liked Dylan’s mix of confidence and vulnerability (loved his surf board comparisons!) and I’m excited that Kelly says his story will be the 3rd book in the series! The tale get’s very steamy here with the three of them involved and emotions start to get tangled up. But with the walls Corey had around her heart and the blinders on Matt’s it took an outside influence to open their eyes to the emotions they didn’t recognize.

I appreciate how Kelly weaves the characters’ backstory into the narrative in a very natural way. I want stories for at least five of the secondary characters too. I’m invested in the San Amaro Singles and need to find out what happens to the rest of them

With Strings Attached is definitely an erotic romance. At times is a menage story. But it’s always a love story. I loved seeing Matt and Corey realize the depths of their feelings for each other.

Here are a few fav lines

♦ He met her eyes and the understanding she saw there made her go all soft and warm and made her want to cry even more. “Not another word” He said quietly.

♦ His heart softened in his chest, though, looking at her, crashed there in his passenger seat, and he wished he could do more to make her life easier.

♦ “And I’m goint to try to let you be there for me. You always were.” she added hastily. “I just didn’t want you to be. I’m sorry.”

♦ Tears leaked from her eyes at the expression on his face, the devotion and worship, the gratitude and appreciation, and she reflected it back to him, giving it all to him, giving him everything she had.

With Strings Attached is as delicious and richly layered story as the chocolate Corey creates and has moments as fun and intoxicating as Matt’s microbrews. I recommend you give it a try if you are in the mood for a hot story with deep emotion, heart and heat.

Don't be fooled. This is NOT a MMF book. This is a MFM book at best, but really it's a MF book with a bit of M on the side. The storyline is not good, you have these two guys in love with one girl. One guy gets the girl while the other is as good as run out of town (it felt that way).

Corey has not had an easy past and the one thing it has taught her is that the only person she can depend on is herself. She has started her own business as a chocolatier, has no interest in love or relationships and is very close to her best friend Matt.

Matt owns his own microbrewery who has burnt by love in the past and isn’t interested in going down that road again. He is very close to his family and is the guy that you can always count on to be there when you need him.

One night after a few drinks too many Corey and Matt’s friendship turned into a friend’s with benefits arrangement and is working well for both of them. When Matt’s friend Dylan, who is a surfer, comes to town after being injured he and Corey are attracted to each which is when things get complicated and they must decide what they really want?

This is a story of three people who are at a crossroads and must decide what they each need to be happy in the future. Full of steam and emotion I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Corey has a friends with benefits arrangement with her buddy, Matt. She just does not want him to help her so much that she gets dependent. Why is she okay to have him help her with orgasms and not other things?

Matt and his buddy Dylan are giving Corey a taste of the forbidden. As they explore each other maybe all of them can learn what true intimacy is. Matt is so devoted to all those he cares about. Dylan has a secret that may rock their world.

These characters were up to some pretty hot stuff. I thought the heat was dialing up and up while I was reading. Is it hot in here? Anyway, true to form, this author had me hoping for a cool cloth while I enjoyed the escapades of these three. Start of a great series, cannot wait to read more.

Kelly Jamieson is an extraordinaire threesome author! If you haven’t read her books, you are missing out.

With Strings Attached is a book about the benefits of a friends with benefits relationship. Corey and Matt are good friends that occasionally enjoy a romp in the bedroom. Corey is a chocolatier. Not only does she choose to work in a field of sweet indulgence, she has quite the appetite in the sack as well. When Dylan, Matt’s friend and professional surfer, comes to stay with Matt, Corey becomes the creme filling in an Oreo cookie. The bedroom scenes are HOT! But when when the men become emotionally greedy, the threesome gets complicated. The HEA has a fresh twist. I’m looking forward to the next two books in the series: How to Love (#2) and Slammed (#3).

Matt and Corey are involved in a "friends with benefits" arrangement. When Matt's friend, Dylan comes to for an extended stay while nursing a surfing injury, he is attracted to Corey too. From the start it's clear that Matt likes Corey as more than a friend, but he agrees to participating in the threesome. Corey thinks it great that two guys want her and she is not the relationship kind of girl.
The writing style was confusing. There were several times where I had to reread because I didn't know which person was talking. Still it was a good read.

Not my kind of story. I'm not interested in three-some tropes. Even if I could get passed the ick factor that a three-some is to me, I couldn't get into the story. By the end of the fourth chapter, I was more invested in the way the female MC made her chocolate than I was in the relationships between the characters.

This was a decent story with some hot sex. The ending ruined it for me though. Seriously irritated that they had to decide no more threesomes. Like what they did was wrong or disrespectful? No, it was hot and they liked it. Everyone was consenting. Don't be stupid and judgmental.

With Strings Attached (San Amaro Singles, #1) by Kelly Jamieson
4 stars

San Amaro Singles, Book 1

Corey Fenwick and Matt Ferber are best friends; both have sworn off
relationships due to prior bad experiences.
These two decide a best friends with benefits relationship is the ideal way to keep themselves sexually satisfied without dealing with all the strings that come with a relationship. They are both focused on their careers - Corey making high end chocolates and Matt expanding his brewery.

These two characters will bring a smile to your face. Their interactions, their understanding of each other's needs, and the way they are there for each other. Ms Jamieson allows the reader to see what these two can't or won't - that they are so right for each other.

When Matt's old friend, professional surfer Dylan Schell returns to town to recover from an injury, the story gets very interesting. Dylan is forward and when he suggests that he and Corey turn their attraction into a threesome with Matt, the sparks start to fly.

In true Ms Jamieson fashion, the sex is lustful, hot and well played out.
The use of backstory in this book made for an enjoyable read. Corey's
history with her Mom and really lack of history with her Dad built on the
story and allowed you to understand her and her motivations. It was also
used to highlight just how well Dylan understands Corey.

The question becomes, as strings start to develop, are they willing to admit what they really want?

With Strings is wonderful look into what happens when what you want is in
front of your face the whole time.

Kelly is planning two more books in this series. I really enjoy her stories and other characters so I am looking forward to How to Love (June 2013) about Jules a minor character in this book and Book 3 is Slammed - Dylan's story (September 2013), oh I am so excited for his story! Some of his quotes in this book make for laugh out loud mementos.

Probably closer to a 3-1/2. I did enjoy this. I think I just expect to feel more emotion with a Kelly Jamieson story, and while this one was very sweet and sexy, for some reason, I just didn't feel so much with this one.

Corey and Matt are friends with benefits. Corey has been let down by virtually everyone in her life -- mother, father, foster families, boyfriends. She's decided if she doesn't open her heart, doesn't expect anything permanent, she won't get hurt when someone lets her down. Matt is the ultimate good guy. His father died when he was young, so he stepped up and became the "man" for his mother and sisters. His romantic relationships have usually ended in "You're so nice. Let's just be friends." Once they both became single, a night of drinking turned into sex, and it was so good that they decided to just keep it going -- no strings.

Enter Dylan, Matt's best friend who is a professional surfer. He's back in town recuperating from a serious injury. And sparks fly between Dylan and Corey, too. And Matt, knowing they have this no strings thing, feels like he can't get in between Dylan going after Corey, but he realizes he doesn't like the idea at all. And then Dylan, realizing Corey wants them both, suggests a threesome. And Corey throws caution to the wind and goes for it.

That's the gist, and jealousies get in the way. Corey and Matt's expectations of their relationship are also a problem, especially when those expectations change. It was sweet and lots of sexy times between the three of them. Sexy times between Matt and Corey as well. It was telling that Corey didn't really feel like sexy times with Dylan if Matt wasn't there. Hmmmm... But it was a good story.

One thing that kinda bugged me was that when we were hearing the story via Dylan's point of view, he thought in surfer-speak. I suppose it makes sense, but it was just so strange to see a word like "aggro" used when it wasn't in conversation. A couple of times, it was off-putting, but I understand that the author was trying to stay true to his character. It was just weird.

Generally I don't like stories that use an extra person to get the destined happy couple to realize that they love each other because too often the sex scenes wilt due to jealousy and the distinct sense that nobody is really enjoying themselves. Thankfully, Jamieson manages to avoid that pitfall and craft a believable tale in which the characters are able to enjoy their sexual interactions for what they are while on the way to an emotional epiphany.

The store is told through the third person viewpoint of each of the main characters. The character's are distinct and developed. It was clear that Corey and Matt are college educated and far more sophisticated than pro surfer, Dylan with his beach boy vocabulary. In fact, the author does such a good job with Dylan that I honestly didn't understand what Corey saw in him beyond a hot body. We are told that he is charming but that was never shown through his dialogue which more often than not consisted of one word responses. I did like though that Dylan repeatedly removed himself from situations in which he would have to open up more, thus giving Cory and Matt more opportunists to draw closer.

The story got off to a slow start which too much time spent on Corey's mentor relationship with a teenage girl. This storyline never went anywhere and frankly should have been excised entirely as there was already plenty going on.

The ending did't exactly put Corey and Matt in the best of light as Dylan got left to deal with things on his own in another book.

3.5 Stars! This is my third book that I have read from from Kelly Jamieson and it has become my favorite. With Strings Attached is about Corey and Matt, best friends who are also having a friends-with-benefits relationship. Everything is great between them until Matt's other best friend, Dylan, comes along and is very interested in Corey. Corey is interested in both Matt and Dylan so she's torn. The solution they came up with is a threesome. However, Matt starts become to jealous over Corey and he doesn't know what to do. Ms. Jamieson seems to be very fond of threesomes. I actually like this threesome she made. I loved Matt, Dylan, and Corey together but I love Matt and Corey together even more. You can just tell that there is a great connection between them and that Matt and Corey deserve to be with each other. I felt bad for Dylan though because he seemed to be going through a lot and he though Corey was the answer to his problems. However, Corey makes him see that she isn't the one who can solve him problems, he has to solve them himself. The sex scenes were very steamy between them. I just really enjoyed this book because it had more dimension than the other books I have read from her. I thought the characters were more developed than her other books. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This review has spoilers, many spoilers.

And I should say I am not a fan of menages. I can stand them when it's just sex, but not when she (or he) is in love with the two others, or the three are in love with each other.

SPOILERS
I liked it, but I felt many things were left unresolved. Corey is instantly drawn to Dylan, she considers him better looking than Matt. She is really hot for him, she sees him and melts, he makes her orgasm with just one look, whatever. However, when they are together after the 3some, she feels weird and awkward with him. She went from hot to frozen. It seemed that the author decided to change course in the middle of the story. Corey goes from "OMG I crave Dylan" to "Matt is also hot, yum!". Dylan goes from thinking she is hot and he wouldn't mind tapping that to "I love her, I need her" wtf? He even asks her to go with him or he's willing to stay there. Bear in mind, they have only known each other for a short wile. It seems that some things are missing. I really liked Matt, he was my favourite out of the three.

Anyway, I liked it quite a bit and I really want to read the next in the series. I really wish Neve gets her own story.

Another sexy tale by the fabulous Kelly Jamieson that I could not stop reading. The story is about Matt and Corey who have a "friends with benefits" relationship but things become complicated when Matt's best buddy, Dylan arrives and is instantly attracted to Corey as well. Now we get to see if the proverbial "nice guys finish last" ring true or in this case, loses the girl to the "bad" boy. I really enjoyed Matt and Corey's relationship and the depth of their love for one another even without realizing it. They had an honest to goodness deep friendship that anyone would envy and I found myself wishing I was in Corey's shoes. Corey was one lucky girl with both Matt and Dylan wanting her and this tested the friendship of all of them. I found myself rooting for the nice guy this time because he just seemed to enjoy life and loved to make others around him happy that just pulled at my heart strings and I wanted him to get the girl. There were times I found myself wishing Dylan would leave already and I love menage stories LOL. This was a great start to a new series and I can't wait to read the other books especially Dylan's.

Good story of friends with benefits turning to more with the help of another friend. When Matt & Corey take their relationship further with Dylan added in they find out that there definitely are strings attached to their no strings relationship. Matt & Corey are very hot together, add in Dylan & the heat factor goes off the charts.

Another lovely read by Kelly. This is a MFM rather than MMF read, normally I like the MmF style the best but I have to say on this occasion I really thought MFM was just right for the story and still it was smokin! Hope to see a follow up novel I'd like to hear Dylan's follow up story.

I really like stories where the good guy/nice buddy turns out to be a sexy, smart, funny lover. So I liked this Kelly Jamieson offering. Plus it included chocolate and beer, with all the great love scenes and steamy sex. What's not to like?
