I thought this was a pretty fantastic guide to English and Irish saints. Each chapter discusses a different saint's life, the when, where, how and why their sanctuaries were built, their relics and also the routes the pilgrims took to arrive at them.I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of English history and loved all the antidotes on royalty who were regular funders and donators to theses sites.Very well written, researched and just a totally fun read for someone interested in saints or just English and Irish history.Much thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
