If you can find a copy of this delightful picture book...do so. Keep it on hand for that moment when you realize that your child is getting better and perhaps a tich cranky. Not a bad idea for husbands either! The illustrations tell the story every bit as well as the text. A delightful book about taking care of each other while we're sick...and reminding each other of how wonderful it is to be well!

When one teddy bear gets sick, the other teddy bears band together to take care of him.

While the story itself is nothing outstanding, I have a distinct memory of being read this book as a child, and there was something about it that stuck with me. Maybe it was the family of teddy bears. Maybe it was the experience of helping a sick person who is well enough to be extremely demanding. Maybe it was the use of white space in the illustrations.

One of many very random, almost completely forgotten books from my own childhood book collection (all kept by my mother). I don't know if this is part of a series or not, but it's really enjoyable and unique. A family of teddy bears all lives together. One of them gets sick and, as soon as he starts feeling a little bit better, he starts making a lot of demands of his caregivers. It's funny and realistic and I love the cozy, wintertime atmosphere of it.

Although a decent book, this isn't exactly a book that I would say is a "must have" or a "must read". It's about a group of friends of bears, one gets sick and takes advantage of his friends' willingness to help. This book has adolescence, which may help the child relate to it. But without a great deal of follow-up questions to explain the moral of the story, it simply remains a how-to book for getting room-service, and then getting out of the task of room-service. Again, the theme is implied, but without being actually stated or made obvious what it is that should be fixed, the whole idea is going to go straight over the kids' heads.

I didn't really like the teddy bears or illustrations in this book, but the text was great. This book could be used during the winter and flu season months to discuss ways to prevent getting sick. And, to discuss ways to help yourself get better if you do get sick. Kids always need reminders for washing hands and covering their mouths.

I would give this book one and a half stars. It is at times amusing, and should keep the reader's attention with a tale of what it is like to get sick, and how the process of convalescence often comes about, as well. Really, how can you go wrong with a story that is populated by Teddy Bears? :-)

William gets sick and takes to bed. The other teddy bears take care of him. As he gets better his demands get greater until the other teddy bears cure him. 2/1/12

Used again for a couple programs. Seems to work better with older children.

I appreciate that these teddy bears record temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Very wise.
