title: Sam's Wild West Christmas (beginning readers)
author: Nancy Antle
illustrator: S.D. Schindler
Publisher: Dial Books for Young Readers
Date of Publication: 2000
Summary: This is a cute book about a Cowboy who saves Christmas for some train riders. He is very brave. I would have this in my classroom, at Christmas time, for younger students to read.

An interesting story about Sam the cowboy who rides a hot air balloon. In the story, Sam saves Christmas by helping Santa escape from the bank robbers Flo and Bo. It was interesting.

This is a 2.5 AR level book.

This was a different twist on Christmas. I don't think I've ever read a children's book about a cowboy Christmas. It was a nice change of pace from all those city folk. Plus, who doesn't love a good character by the name of Sam? ;)
